The Pilot Sport Cup 2 is Michelin's Streetable Track & Competition tire originally developed for Original Equipment use on the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Mercedes SLS AMG Coupe Black Series and Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid super sports car. Designed to provide faster circuit times and consistent performance lap after lap, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 allows these supercars to achieve their full potential in dry conditions.

WARNING: Pilot Sport Cup 2 radials meet DOT requirements; however, they are not recommended for driving in wet conditions where standing water is present and there is the risk of hydroplaning; drivers should drive cautiously at reduced speeds if they encounter these conditions. This is especially true of shaved or worn tires. And like other Streetable Track & Competition tires, these tires are not intended to be stored, serviced nor driven in near- or below freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The Pilot Sport Cup 2's tread molds Michelin's Bi-Compound technology into an asymmetric design. Bi-Compound technology features different rubber compounds on the tread's outboard and inboard regions. Massive outboard shoulders feature a tread rubber whose hardness has been specially designed to deliver maximum adherence and outstanding dry grip on curves, especially on tight corners. Notched center ribs and an inboard shoulder use tread rubber featuring a more rigid elastomer to ensure precision steering.

Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires feature Michelin Variable Contact Patch 3.0, an innovation evolved from the Variable Contact Patch 2.0 technology integrated into Pilot Super Sport and Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires. Variable Contact Patch 3.0 maximizes the contact patch size and optimizes its footprint pressure so that more rubber remains in contact with the track when cornering, thereby ensuring superior grip in curves and tight corners.

The tire's internal structure features twin steel belts reinforced by spirally wound Twaron cord. Twaron is a polyamide cord that offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed durability, handling and wear. Michelin FAZ Technology (Filament At Zero degrees) winds the Twaron cord around the tire circumference, much the same way fishing line is wound onto fishing reels, to allow Michelin engineers to tune tension and strength. The Twaron is applied with variable tension between the shoulders and the center of the tire, and is tightened so firmly that it literally locks the tire structure into a practically inelastic belt. As a result, the tire's footprint remains constant and centrifugal force is effectively controlled, even at very high speeds.

Michelin Pilot® Sport Cup 2 features a polyester casing that combines ride comfort with responsive handling. Its bead region is 10% wider than that of traditional sports tires and is strengthened with a high modulus rubber compound that increases the tire's lateral stiffness and delivers sporty responsiveness, as well as precision steering.

A special mold tooling process has led to the development of Michelin Premium Touch Technology, a process that has made it possible to create more contrast on sections of the outer sidewall using micro-geometry techniques that absorb light. The geometry of the texture permits variable contrast to create shades of black that have the feel of velvet.

NOTE: Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires cannot be mixed with Pilot Sport Cup, Pilot Sport Cup + (Plus), Pilot Sport Cup N-Spec or Pilot Sport Cup ZP run-flat tires.

Great tire for both dry and wet. Wet traction is impressive and I have gone through heavy rain storms with no problem. Dry traction on the other hand is just ok comparing to tires in the same category. Sidewall is stiff and provides good steering input, but it makes the ride uncomfortable, combined with the thick tread blocks, it's noisy and has slight vibration from the tread blocks. The noise is bearable, but I thought my wheel bearings have gone bad because of the tire noise. Also, the sidewall seems wider than most tires. With the same wheel, my front tires rub at full turn with these 225/45R17 Falken, while my old 245/40R17 Yokohama didn't rub at all. Overall, it's a good tire for all year around if noise and confort are not your priovities.

...The tires stick well, run smooth and are predictable. I will definitely buy more...

My car came with Falken Azenis FK510 tires on it. I upgraded to 14" front rotors and had to move to 18" wheels. I put 265/35R18 tires on front of my C5 Corvette. I have put about 10,000 combined city and highway miles on them, and have run 4 open road race events with speeds up to 165 mph. These events require DOT tires. The tires stick well, run smooth and are predictable. I will definitely buy more.

I just ordered some Falken Azenis FK460 A/S to drive when the temperatures are low in the winter.

These are the first Falkens I have owned. I am very happy with the performance and quality.

...Even with the quick response in weight transfers, it has a pretty soft sidewall great for cruising. They keep quiet very well as long as you stay with rotations and your alignment is good...

For people that want an honest opinion:

This tire is amazing. for the price as a UHP, this is by far the best tire for the performance, comfort, and tread life. I will be on my 3rd set in the spring, getting roughly 20-25k miles on each set, swapping at 3/32" left.

Performance: The response is better than most in this category, both wet and dry. You can feel when they want to give out, and when they do, it's very gradual and composed. They deal with hydroplaning very well for a UHP summer and wet contact traction is top tier.

NVH/Comfort: Even with the quick response in weight transfers, it has a pretty soft sidewall great for cruising. They keep quiet very well as long as you stay with rotations and your alignment is good. I saw so many other reviews saying how horrific they were in this category, and I can bet you they either did not rotate frequently enough or their alignment is $#!t. I've done rotations at 3,000 miles, and at 10,000 miles, barely noticed any difference in noise, but it was noticed.

Tread Wear: Another category that other reviewers had a problem with. It is a UHP Summer tire, you can't expect to get 30-40k miles unless all you do is highway driving. If that is really all you do and they wear down quick, then fix your alignment. I do not go easy on these tires and use them to their full capability probably about 10-20% of my miles, and I'll happily take 25k miles for these.

Overall, amazing tire, FOR THE PRICE, as a UHP summer. You could go with the DWS06+ if you wanted better tread life for close to the same price, but you won't get the performance of these. I've driven this car with both tires, and like I said, I can't wait to throw them on again in the spring.

...The ride is quiet, comfortable, and responsive...

I purchased these tires just a few days ago but I can already tell you I'm impressed. So far the only real difference between these and the P-P0s that originally came with the vehicle is the price. The ride is quiet, comfortable, and responsive. I would definitely purchase them again.

These tires on a BMW is so comfortable and quiet. I love these tires. The price is worth the comfort and ride. The handling is great. These tires are great for after market wheels and easier for wheel alignment. While there are other good tires on the market, these tires have excellent value 👌As soon as I drove off from the tire store I noticed a huge difference sound comfort and ride the previous tires felt like I was driving on top of gravel all the time. BMW and Mercedes owners will love these tires because of the quality and looks. I had Nexen Michelin
Toyo tires all of which are quality tires but
Falken you will notice the difference immediately which is great. My second vehicle will get these tires. Now keep in mind for Southern California they are great

Ignition Porsche Cayman GT4 Hot Lap(03:32)

The car everyone has been waiting for: the 2015 Porsche Cayman GT4. And it begs to be driven on the race track. So Motor Trend Ignition's Randy Pobst took it for "one heckuva lap" on the Streets of Willow to see what the Cayman and its Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires could do. Watch in this Tire Rack Head 2 Head Hot Lap.

Head 2 Head Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Hot Lap(04:57)

We're in the middle of the desert at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway, with no one around to complain about any noise, because Motor Trend Head 2 Head's Randy Pobst is in the ‘16 Mustang Shelby GT350R, and it's LOUD.

Its Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, developed by Ford and Michelin, have to manage this beast's 500+ horsepower right where the rubber meets the road.

Head 2 Head 2015 Porsche 911 GT3 Hot Laps(03:38)

Big Willow, the fastest road in the West, is a great playground for Motor Trend Head 2 Head's Randy Pobst. Three-cups-of-coffee-wired fun, in fact, driving the 2015 Porsche 911 GT3! Its higher level of performance requires a tire with grip to match. So the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 it is. We put it to the test during this Hot Lap at the Streets of Willow.
