The Destination X/T is Firestone's Off-Road All-Terrain tire developed for the drivers of ¾- and 1-ton pickup trucks, body-on-frame SUVs and Jeeps who want go-anywhere dependability and proven traction, regardless of the conditions. Designed to combine on-road civility, off-road capability and confident light snow traction, the Destination X/T is severe snow service rated and is branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

A specially formulated rubber compound is molded into the Destination X/T's aggressive, symmetric pattern. Firestone's TractionTech Package features full-depth features and interlocking sipes that maintain stiffness in the independent tread blocks for stability and longevity, in addition to providing consistent traction throughout the tire's life. Deep tread depths, a high void ratio and open shoulders help evacuate water from the contact patch to enhance hydroplaning resistance, while also delivering confident off-road traction. The aggressive off-shoulder tread design creates the biting edges needed to find any available grip in loose and varied terrain. High lateral edge density in the pattern and the interlocking lug design provide snow traction, and block wall ridges in the outboard grooves grab onto snow, further enhancing grip.

Internal construction of the Destination X/T utilizes a two-ply, polyester cord casing supporting two high-tensile steel belts. A nylon reinforcement ply aids durability and provides higher speed capability.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...Steering response is about the same, but there is so much more ultimate grip when cornering. The stiff sidewalls don't roll over and howl immediately like the factory tires and it was downright fun on Tail of the Dragon...

My truck is a 4-cylinder 4x4 so I wanted some tough but relatively lightweight all-terrain tires that wouldn't destroy my acceleration or MPG and could be aired down, eventually leading me to these Firestones. They only weigh 39 lbs in an E-rated 245/75-16 and are a little cheaper than the usual suspects. I don't notice any acceleration differences compared to the stock tires , though I did lose ~1 MPG mixed (like from 24-26 MPG on the highway to 23-25 and from 21-22 around town to 20-21ish).

Most of the time I don't notice much of a difference compared to the stock tires. Steering response is about the same, but there is so much more ultimate grip when cornering. The stiff sidewalls don't roll over and howl immediately like the factory tires and it was downright fun on Tail of the Dragon. I have taken it on a lot of steep dirt and gravel roads and on many of the easy/moderate trails and passes in Colorado (Ophir Pass, Medano Pass, etc.) and rarely needed 4WD except for extra low-end power at 10,000 feet (4-cyl gets a little asthmatic at altitude). It was super confidence inspiring.

Hard/panic braking is the only thing that's a little worse. It howls and squirms around a little.

The installers spec'd them with 45 PSI and they do ride more firmly, but it's only really noticeable if you hit a big pothole or something like a recessed sewer lid. I like how on normal bumps the truck kind of just kind of shrugs them off in one motion now instead of reverberating/quivering like it did with the OEM tires. They are a little louder than the OEM tires, but it is a different sound. Whereas the OEM tires kind of had a singing/ringing sound, these kind of make a low shhhhhhh.

I haven't driven on any snow or ice yet but they are excellent in heavy rain compared to the factory tires that slid around and hydroplaned easily. So far, there's no noticeable wear after 7500 miles. Very happy with them and perfect on a stock 4-cylinder Tacoma for easy off-roading.

...On road comfort is on par with the best all terrain tires. They are quiet and comfortable even on the highway...

These tires have performed great for my use case. Most of the time, it is a daily commuter. It is also used for moderate off-road use in the Sonoran Desert and mountainous areas nearby. The tires give great confidence on loose surfaces, rock faces, mud, and sand. The sidewalls are strong enough to absorb impacts and scrapes on sharp rocks. On road comfort is on par with the best all terrain tires. They are quiet and comfortable even on the highway. They appear to be wearing a little faster than my previous set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W's but they are also lighter translating to better fuel economy and acceleration. I expect to get 40k out of these tires before replacement is needed. Overall I would buy again especially for the price.

...I did have "E" rated tires on my half ton GMC and kept tire pressures well above vehicle manufactures recommendations and still experienced a smooth and fairly quiet ride...

This tire exceeded my expectations with regards to tread wear longevity, traction, and comfort. I have taken this vehicle in some off road situations/conditions that I probably shouldn't have. I had more issues with clearance than any tire/traction issues. I did have "E" rated tires on my half ton GMC and kept tire pressures well above vehicle manufactures recommendations and still experienced a smooth and fairly quiet ride. I would purchase these tires again and would highly recommend.
