The Destination X/T is Firestone's Off-Road All-Terrain tire developed for the drivers of ¾- and 1-ton pickup trucks, body-on-frame SUVs and Jeeps who want go-anywhere dependability and proven traction, regardless of the conditions. Designed to combine on-road civility, off-road capability and confident light snow traction, the Destination X/T is severe snow service rated and is branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

A specially formulated rubber compound is molded into the Destination X/T's aggressive, symmetric pattern. Firestone's TractionTech Package features full-depth features and interlocking sipes that maintain stiffness in the independent tread blocks for stability and longevity, in addition to providing consistent traction throughout the tire's life. Deep tread depths, a high void ratio and open shoulders help evacuate water from the contact patch to enhance hydroplaning resistance, while also delivering confident off-road traction. The aggressive off-shoulder tread design creates the biting edges needed to find any available grip in loose and varied terrain. High lateral edge density in the pattern and the interlocking lug design provide snow traction, and block wall ridges in the outboard grooves grab onto snow, further enhancing grip.

Internal construction of the Destination X/T utilizes a two-ply, polyester cord casing supporting two high-tensile steel belts. A nylon reinforcement ply aids durability and provides higher speed capability.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Related Information: What is the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol (3PMSF)?

Customers Say

Customer ratings showcase the Firestone Destination X/T as an outstanding off-road all-terrain tire, with exceptional dry traction (frequent 9-10 scores) and reliable wet performance highlighted by strong hydroplaning resistance. Winter traction earns praise in deep snow and slush, though ice handling shows mixed results (some scores 3-7). Drivers report comfortable ride quality (mostly 7-10) and commend treadwear durability, with many noting it holds up well to rugged use. ...The wet traction is great and treadwear is impressive...

I took a chance buying these since there were no reviews available. I liked the aggressive look and am happy I tried them. Wet traction is great and treadwear is impressive.
I recommend these tires and would definitely buy them again.

...When the roads get wet from rain the tire still perform well!!! What makes this happen? The fact that most of the tread blocks have awesome sipes that go most of the way down the tread...

So this is an update to my previous review. No I did not buy the tires from Tire Rack but I did get the tires from a Firestone dealer. Now you might be wondering why i went with Firestone over BFG? Well a simple answer is I dont want to be like everyone else. Second I like the Firestone brand.

To start lets go with street performance and comfort. Being the fact that i have an LT it is going to be "stiff" compared to a P rated tire. That is to be expected. But even so the tire still rides pretty well in this size(265/70-17). On dry pavement it does just fine. I have good stability in turns. Good braking modulation. When the roads get wet from rain the tire still perform well!!! What makes this happen? The fact that most of the tread blocks have awesome sipes that go most of the way down the tread. Can I still slide in wet weather? You bet and that can happen with any tire but the Firestone holds up to it pretty well.

Snow traction? Well lets be honest, no matter what others say this tire is not a snow tire. Can it perform well in snow? I'm sure it can but not as well as a snow/winter tire. If you live in a place you barely have to deal with snow then you should be ok. Live where is snows all year round then this may bot be for you.

Now for the OffRoad Fun!!!!!! So those of you that understand that inorder to get the best performance OffRoad you need to air your tires down(depends on what your setup is to how much). Well I did so recently on a Pass in Colorado and I had to deal with Mud, Rocks, more than a dozen water crossings and Sand. To put simple lets just say the truck and tires didnt even sweat it!!!! I was a little worried but the truck and tires out performed my expectations on this!!

As for durability... Well I havents had a puncture yet and I'm hoping it never happens!!!

So would I recommend thus tire to you? If you are an avid OffRoader then absolutely!!!!! Use it as your winter tire? Not really!!

I hipe this helps others on thier decision!!!!

...For a small part I was in in 4WD but most of the way i was in 2WD. I did have 140 lbs worth of sand in the bed so that helped a bunch but overall I was amazed on how the tires handled the snow!!...

So I am back again for some more input for a wonderful tire!!

To start off I have a combine mileage of 30,000 from my personal truck and my work van(yes I convinced my boss lol)

You will see two other reviews from me that state how I already like the tire for dry, wet and OffRoad. Now for the winter review!!

Just to start everyone must understand that this is an "All-Terrain" tire and not a "Snow" tire. Yes it is 3 peak reated but a true Snow tire will be at the top!!

So I now live in the Mountains again and for Thanksgiving I got to drive through a bit of snow for a good distance. Just on my way home the day before in my work van I was getting curious and still being cautious. In the work van it was wonderful going up hill the entire way in a 2WD van without snow chains. Yes the 5 millions tons of weight probably helped. The following day I probably went about 30 miles on slick roads that were covered in snow(about 1 inch) and probably had ice here and there. For a small part I was in 4WD but most of the way i was in 2WD. I did have 140 lbs worth of sand in the bed so that helped a bunch but overall I was amazed on how the tires handled the snow!!

Now you might be asking yourself if you should buy the Firestone Destination XT, BFG K02 or a Snow Tire huh? Well to start it all depends on what you do. If you dont go OffRoad dont waist your money on an All-Terrain. To add if you dont have too much snow to deal with a good All-Season tire will do just fine. If you deal with a lot of snow every winter then you would benefit from a Snow Tire vs an All-Terrain. As for Destination XT vs K02? Well the K02 my be more popular but I can already tell the Destination XT is far superior.

Yes it may be a long read but I hope this information really helps you out!!

Absolutely impressive in snow. We got a 10-12 snowfall that was pretty heavy moisture wise. This tire, while new at least, clawed though snow incredibly. Pretty much unstoppable in that snow, even driving through drifts, stopping and starting, etc. Putting a heavy trailer with skid steer on it behind the truck slowed it down, as expected, but still never got stuck.

Ive always used Destination A/T tires on my lighter trucks and SUVs, which is what steered me to this tire. Glad I went with it and highly recommend it! The only thing I have yet to see is tire life, but for now its a 5 star rating!

...Traction? On road so far so good. Only broke loose once but then again I have a pickup so that will happen from time to time...

So I just came from the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3 into the Firestone Destination XT. To say the least I should have went Firestone to begin with. Now I do understand that I havent put that many miles on it amd i have only had it for a few days but I promise I got a good experience real quick.

To start off on the street there is no noise from the tire that I can tell. The comfort on the road is pretty nice for an LT too!

Traction? On road so far so good. Only boke loose once but then again I have a pickup so that will happen from time to time.

Offroad traction? Awesome to say the least!!! I did air down from 32 psi to 18 psi and the tire did not struggle to hold traction.

Winter conditions? Well I honestly cant say since I have already past winter and these are NOT a snow tire. Maybe they will do well.... Maybe they won't... I honestly have no idea.

How is it fitting this tire in 285/70-17 on a Ranger? Not bad keeping the stock wheels with no spacers, the Old Man EMU Lift and simply moving the front crash bars forward there is little to no rubbing when the front end is compressed.

I should add that with the tire VIN code the tire is NOT made in Thailand. Tire VIN code 1VN is for Canada EH'.

All in all I can say I highly recommend this to someone who wants an offroad tire but doesnt want a BFG KO2.

This tire exceeded my expectations with regards to tread wear longevity, traction, and comfort. I have taken this vehicle in some off road situations/conditions that I probably shouldn't have. I had more issues with clearance than any tire/traction issues. I did have "E" rated tires on my half ton GMC and kept tire pressures well above vehicle manufactures recommendations and still experienced a smooth and fairly quiet ride. I would purchase these tires again and would highly recommend.

...Emergency breaking was excellent, wet or dry...

Most fantastic tire I’ve ever had. I’m able to drive in wet grass without any issues and without tearing up and trenching the lawn. Babying these tires didn’t last long. After 50,000 of speeding and hard corners my tires are about halfway used. The forward traction in ice is remarkable. I wouldn’t go as far as saying the lateral ice traction is confidence inspiring but I have yet to slip at a reasonable speed. I’m more than likely going to buy these tires again. They don’t make much noise at all and drive beautifully. Emergency breaking was excellent, wet or dry. It’s a nice feeling not being phased by ponding on the highway. No chips cracks or puncture on my truck but the work truck picked up a nail before. They do pickup little pebbles but eject them even when driving straight. I’ve noticed less and less as they age. It’s a much better tire then the General Grabber A/TX, Stock Goodyears and the old model Pirelli Scorpion ATR by far!

...This is a very comfortable tire, drastically smoother ride coming from my last set of tires. Previously had Continental Terrain Contact A/T and Toyo A/T II but I would easily pick the Firestone tires over either. The Continentals were great but the ride quality was no comparison.

I handle fleet operations for a company that operates on mine properties in Arizona. I've had almost every name brand tire that you can put on a super duty in the last decade. Coopers, Michelin, Toyo, Nitto, BFG, Goodyear, Continental, General and even Master Craft tires in a pinch. Our vehicles see a lot of abuse and rough terrain so we aren't typically getting a lot of mileage out of our tires regardless of the brand. That being said, I'm someone that likes to try something different and I rarely get the same tire twice but with this Destination X/T I would easily purchase it again.

I've never actually bought a Firestone tire before but went with these on a recommendation of a Ford employee. Tread looks more aggressive than what I might normally go for but it drives great on regular highways and city streets. This is a very comfortable tire, drastically smoother ride coming from my last set of tires. Previously had Continental Terrain Contact A/T and Toyo A/T II but I would easily pick the Firestone tires over either. The Continentals were great but the ride quality was no comparison. Steering is still sharp, I've had other A/T tires that make the handling a bit sluggish but that is not the case here. Depending on the size, you actually are saving a nice little chunk of change with these tires over a comparable Toyo.

...They are considerably smoother and quieter than my worn Goodyears...

I researched tires for months before finally choosing these Firestone X/Ts. The only reviews I found were on a few Tacomas and Jeeps here in the US; and a few 3/4 ton trucks in Canada. The lack of info made me hesitant, but after getting them I have nothing bad to say. So i will try to share as much as I can. I was looking for a 33”-ish AT tire with good road manners and a deep tread for light trail (sometimes with a trailer) use. I was also looking for a slightly milder tread pattern than my previous tires, as I’m finding myself on the highway a lot more than I used to. For features, I liked the fact that even these LT tires were lighter than many comparable brands (I knew I would add weight with a taller tire, but felt these were a good compromise in that department), also the tread was a very deep and proven pattern design (similar to the K02s and others, but also have some proprietary edge designs and deep siping on the tread blocks), and finally they come with a mileage warranty supported by a huge network of shops. Anyway, I found a great deal on them and swapped out my stock size Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs (265/65/18) to these Firestone Destination X/Ts (in 275/70/18). The vehicle is a 2017 Silverado crew cab with a 1.5” level kit. I don’t have a lot of miles on them yet, but they are considerably smoother and quieter than my worn Goodyears. With a taller tire and deep tread I was concerned about edge roll and wander when turning on highway, or with a trailer; but I have not had any issues so far. Finally, I guess other folks have taken an interest in these from me talking because a buddy from work just installed the same size on his F-150 crew. I will try to update this review as I get more miles and conditions driving on these tires.

The truck is a 2nd vehicle and has not been driven very much due to mechanical and engine swap issues but the tires are doing great. For the record these tires are my 2nd set of Firestone Destinations and they are a rock solid quality construction. They wear so well that it is hard to tell if there is any wear at all. The deal that I received from Tire Rack was even better then what Firestone quoted and also they could not supply the size that Tire Rack was able to do. All in all this purchase was a good deal in these days of high automotive pricing.....

So far have 7,498k Miles on them and so far they’re at 12/32 all the way around I plan on getting them rotated at 8k. Living in the Copper Country of Upper Michigan is the perfect real world testing site for tires, with 30 inches of snow already on the ground and another 36 inches on the way I have yet to see my 4X4 kick in I keep mine in auto. In the rain there is no hydroplaning to be reported. There is no noise difference between these and the Goodyear RSA’s that were on the truck. It does take more of a steering input on fine movements in comparison and there’s about a two to three mpg loss compared to the RSA as well. I would’ve gone to the Defender LTX M/S but being up here in the Copper Country you need All Terrain tires because of the snowfall alone.
