The Grabber A/TX is General's Off-Road All-Terrain tire developed for the drivers of pickup trucks, work vans and full-size SUVs who need confident traction in a variety of conditions, whether that is on pavement, in dirt, wet conditions and even light snow. The Grabber A/TX is designed to blend rugged durability and on-road civility, in addition to providing light snow traction that meets the tire industry's severe snow service requirements and earns the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

A tough, cut- and chip-resistant compound is molded into the all-terrain tread pattern of the Grabber A/TX. General's Comfort Balance Technology utilizes an absorption layer under the tread and acoustic tread pattern to enhance ride and sound comfort, and the wide footprint and optimized pattern stiffness help evenly distribute pressure for even wear and long life. Stone bumpers between the alternating shoulder blocks help eject rocks and debris to prevent drilling, and Sidewall Protection Lugs are designed to protect from sidewall punctures. Deep starting tread depths and multi-angle tread blocks aid traction in loose terrain, while traction notches and sipes create additional biting edges for grip in dirt, wet conditions and snow. Grabber A/TX tires are designed to accept optional metal studs to enhance traction on ice and packed snow.

The internal construction of the Grabber A/TX utilizes General's DuraGen Technology, with ultra-high-strength steel belts, a robust, two-ply polyester casing to balance toughness and ride comfort and two polyamide reinforcement plies that aid durability and provide high-speed capability.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...These tires, unlike the OE tires, have really good turn in and respond to very small steering inputs. No more wandering from lane marker to lane marker. And, once in a corner, they stay steady, requiring very little input in a curve...

My new Expedition FX4 came with junk tires, Michelin Primacys. I purchased the General Grabbers after reading reviews, test results, etc. I am really happy with them. I drive a lot on mountain roads, here in Colorado. These tires, unlike the OE tires, have really good turn in and respond to very small steering inputs. No more wandering from lane marker to lane marker. And, once in a corner, they stay steady, requiring very little input in a curve. They make this really heavy SUV less like a tank and more like a responsive mid size.
I live on a steep hill in a snow belt - Denver area foothills. So far, they have not slipped on ice covered pavement, going up our drive or coming down either. Have driven up steep hills in 6-8 inches of fresh snow, no troubles.
I am very happy with this tire. Turned my new truck into a pleasant to drive cruiser and off road basher.

...Wet traction these do well although I'm not exactly doing both speed slaloms in my 4Runner, they manage standing water well enough...

Only had these on for 1000 miles or so but I've had the chance to give them a go.

As for ride quality these are great, I have Goodyear Wrangler Adventure Kevlar tires on my other truck with a much less aggressive tread pattern and these Grabbers blow them away. These are smoother and quieter than the Goodyear's by far. I had them roadforce balanced and I've had zero issues.

My biggest concern with getting these, and why I went with these over Duratracs was road noise. At low speed you can hear these spin up, at cruising speed the sound blends in with the wind noise and you forget about them. I've been really pleased and am glad I went this route.

As far as dry traction goes, they add welcome weight to the otherwise vague Toyota steering feel. On rutted roads these tires will wander slightly. Impacts are absorbed quietly and comfortably.

Wet traction these do well although I'm not exactly doing both speed slaloms in my 4Runner, they manage standing water well enough.

These handled mud and dirt flawlessly. I took them out on some really nasty mud trails and I'll be honest, it was a major concern of mine when choosing these over the Duratrac. I was not disappointed, they threw rooster tails above the roof and never hesitated to keep on plugging away. These are phenomenal tires and I don't regret choosing them.

If that wasn't enough, I caught a nail in them 3 days after buying them and having the two years free road hazard is tremendous peace of mind.

Drove my truck up bald eagle state forest, the road was solid ice and deep snow in the ditches. I passed several stuck Subarus. Im blown away by the grip I had on the ice going up hill. Seriously I had to stop and get out of my truck to pee and I slipped on the road, almost pissed my self, my tires never slipped the whole 3 mile drive over the Mountain. Mind you o was not speeding, just doing 5-7mph in 4H on the upward side. When going downhill I dropped her in 4L and just coasted down the mountain. I 100% trust my life to these tires in ice conditions. As for mud... bring a winch. I got stuck on a slighty muddy hill. Handle great on pavement wet or dry.

...The work equally well in the rain, in snow and dry...

After replacing 2 sets of OEM Tires, I put in leveling struts to fit this one-up size tires on my '11 F150.
For the tread pattern, they are remarkably quiet.
Compared to the OEMs, they are a stiffer tire. In my opinion, my truck drives much safer and with more stability, although the original P tires were softer.
I can't say enough good things about the life of the tire, especially at the price. I do a lot of highway, no towing, but the truck is usually loaded to half-capacity.
The work equally well in the rain, snow and dry. I very rarely leave the pavement, but they do well offroad on the few occasions a year its in the sand/mud.
I just bought my second set after getting nearly 60K miles on my last set. Would strongly recommend if you are looking at this style of tire for your truck, and you prioritize a great deal of stability over a minor reduction in ride quality.

Tires look and feel excellent grip. I have a lot of confidence in them and prefer to use the rig with these vs my daily if it's raining out...

Tires look and feel excellent. I have very few miles on them so I am unsure of their longevity or tread wear. I recently replaced the majority of front end components and got a fresh alignment so only time will tell. Overall, they feel good on the road, are responsive to steering input, and have excellent traction on and off-road.

...In all dry conditions, handles very well...

This tire is what you should expect from a A/T tire. In all dry conditions, handles very well. Off-road, they sling mud and could probably get you out of most situations. Now that I have almost 30k miles on them, the wet traction has degraded a bit. The tires feel a lot stiffer now. Also road noise has increased quite a bit since they were new. Tread wear so far is great. The only thing I would change is I would not get a E load rated version for a 1500 ever again.I got them cause I tow a lot, and it was a big mistake. Ride quality went out the window. The tires give the truck a nice beefy look and I have the white letters out. Looks great. Overall would recommend.

Going from 32/12.5R20 Ironman MT with over 79k miles to the General Grabber ATX allowed me to enjoy driving my truck again. It is a buttery smooth ride, great steering response and shock absorption. My MPG's increased due to less rolling resistance. The tread depth is huge and I foresee no issues when it snows or becomes icy as they are rated for sever snow service. I had no fitment issues and no rubbing on a stock F150 (no level kit). Although my experience with these tires has been brief thus far, I look forward to see how they perform long-term and in different off road conditions.

Through many years of driving on / off road, I have purchased many brands / types of tires. BF. Goodrich, Maxi Track, Firestone, Yokohama , Mickey Thompson's. I find these General Grabbers ATX to be the best overall tires I have ever purchased for all around use. Very good in Mud, Snow, Rain. Very little road noise, and the tread wear is excellent, and the price of these tires are very reasonable. I have 24,000 miles on them with my FJ Cruiser and they still have over 50% of tread left. After 12K miles, minimal treadwear...

After getting stuck a few times in winter snow up in the Poconos on my OEM tires, I decided to upgrade to something a bit more aggressive. These tires fit the bill. Great in snow. Very good in rain and on ice. High load capacity for hauling firewood. Beefy tread and sidewalls stand up to potholes and broken curbs. After 12K miles, minimal treadwear.
The fly in the ointment: A bit of a vibration problem at 60-70 mph. Tried rebalancing to no avail. Outside of this speed range, no problems. But given the type of tires these are, tough, durable and all weather, it's not a deal breaker. I'll likely buy them again.
