The Crugen HT51 is Kumho's Highway All-Season tire developed for drivers of light-duty pickups, vans, crossovers and sport utility vehicles looking for durability, a comfortable ride and all-season capability, including light snow traction. The Crugen HT51 is an all-weather tire that meets industry severe snow service requirements for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol alongside its all-season performance.
The Crugen HT51 utilizes an all-season tread compound molded into an asymmetric tread design with an optimized geometric block layout for maximum treadlife. The five-rib tread design features a stiff center block design for improved straight-line stability and enhanced dry traction. Four wide, circumferential zigzag grooves create a vortex effect to enhance water flow-through, increasing hydroplaning resistance, while 3D zigzag sipes provide the biting edges necessary for light snow traction.
Beginning in the 13th week of 2017, all Crugen HT51 tires manufactured are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol, indicating they are severe snow service rated. Tires manufactured before this date may not bear the 3PMSF symbol, but all Crugen HT51 tires meet the standards required for severe snow service rating.
The tire’s internal structure consists of a two-ply polyester cord body for enhanced ride quality and improved strength. Two wide steel belts sit on top of the casing and are reinforced by two spirally-wrapped nylon cord caps, enhancing handling, durability and stability at highway speeds.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...wet road traction is unbelievably responsive.. deep run off is 100% stable with no sign of hydro plaining at approx 60 mph...
Purchased a set of these in June 2018 for my 2012 Chevy Cargo van Order and delivery was exactly what Tire Rack said ..2 Days at my front door ..I live in the Northeast and the weather was a consideration I had a set of Master craft before these and was looking for a better ride with less road noise after a lot of research I purchased this tire and it was a spot on decision , price is the best in its class with everything I was looking for in a tire ..wet road traction is unbelievably responsive.. deep run off is 100% stable with no sign of hydro plaining at approx 60 mph ..My girlfriend has a Mercedes GLC and my cargo van rides quieter than her car , Steering has greatly improved with no rolling or swaying , the compound is not too soft but not hard as rock either , I think 50,000 miles will not be a problem for wear ¿ winter is coming and im sure these tires will be spot on ..Plan on purchasing another set for my winter wheels ..Will update as soon as we get our first snow fall ...

...I've found that these tires provide great traction on dry pavement, in rain and in snow (of various consistencies)...
I was seriously considering purchasing a set of Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires for my truck. After reviewing and comparing the performance test results against the Michelins and other brands I found that the Kumho's score was equal to and in some instances better than. Combining the test results with the price, I decided to take a chance and I've found that these tires provide great traction on dry pavement, in rain and snow (of various consistencies).
The Kumho Crugen HT51 tires have worn well, +50,000 miles, as I drive a lot for my job as a Construction Manager. These tires are also quite comfortable and I like them so much that I purchased a set for my wife's vehicle, a 2007 Lincoln MKX AWD and am purchasing another set for my 2016 GMC Canyon.
For the price and performance, a great set of tires!
...We have had a lot, of rain this year (2017) and not once did I lose traction on wet roads...
I have had these tires on my truck for 2 years now and they still preform like new. Here in Wisconsin we get a lot of snow and ice, these tires do an excellent job of handling both conditions. We have had a lot, of rain this year (2017) and not once did I lose traction on wet roads. I will buy another set when it's time to replace them, great tire.

I have noticed no problems driving thru several inches of snow and there is flawless performance in rain conditions...
I put theses tires on my Pleasureway camper van which I sometimes drive up to 80-90 mph.....awesome handling......driving on sandy and/or gravely roads I get good traction...good enough for me to feel confident about driving into off road BLM type campgrounds and national forest campsites.......once I hit a deep sand pocket and had to work the vehicle back and forth a few times and did finally get out. I have noticed no problems driving thru several inches of snow and there is flawless performance in rain conditions. I hope these tires are still being manufactured when I need another set for this rig.

A great sturdy tire. Long lasting tread. Excellent for the hottest AZ Mohave desert! My first set lasted 5 PLUS years which drove my service providers nuts. I had these in the mid-Atlantic for the first 3 years and drove in rain and snow. When the tires are new, there was minor slippage in ice and rain. When I researched the tire, this is a copy of a much more expensive "_ichelin" tire that had come off patent.

...The tire took about half the weight as the old tires that were also new (MT STZ), had much better steering response, dry and wet grip, and noise...
With limited experience, this tire was an excellent choice for me. The tire took about half the weight as the old tires that were also new (MT STZ), had much better steering response, dry and wet grip, and noise. It was a pleasant surprise for such cheap tires. They look great and, while I haven't had a chance to try them in snow, expect excellent results based on the design and compound.

...They balanced easily and ride smooth. They are pretty quiet though the Honda Ridgelines and Pilots are not known for quiet rides as there is a lot of road noise no matter what tire is on... Barely notice a difference except the new tire seems a bit more cushy (softer) of a ride...
Just put these on. They balanced easily and ride smooth. They are pretty quiet though the Honda Ridgelines and Pilots are not known for quiet rides as there is a lot of road noise no matter what tire is on. I replaced the OE Michelin LTX MS which still had plenty of tread on them at about 43,000 miles on them but the dry rot of the tire was staring to concern me and the tire was 4 years old. Barely notice a difference except the new tire seems a bit more cushy (softer) of a ride. The Kumho is a cheaper alternative and a replica basically of the new Michelin Defender LTX. The Kumho tread seems noticeably softer to the touch. The tread is deep and I measured at 12/32nds new. We shall see if they last. Honestly don't really care because they are almost $100 a tire cheaper than the Michelins. These Kumho's have the mountain snowflake symbol and the snow is coming. I'll write another review when I drive the tire more in rain and snow.

...So far the treadwear has been very good both front and back... I was especially concerned with treadwear on the back dual's with the weight of the trailer but so far no much difference from the front tires.
I bought these for my 2016 Chevrolet Dually. As of now, I have around ~15K miles on these tires and I am very happy with them. They are very comfortable and virtually no road noise when compared to the Michelin M/S2 tires I replaced. So far the treadwear has been very good both front and back. I pull a 4-horse trailer that weighs around 10K pounds empty and 17K fully loaded. I was especially concerned with treadwear on the back dual's with the weight of the trailer but so far no much difference from the front tires.

...At the time I purchased the Crugen HT51's, they were the overall highest rated in the category just ahead of Michelin on TR and next highest for wet traction... I have no doubt they will perform far superior to my previous Wranglers, at a cost far lower than Michelin. I have no qualms recommending these to anyone, and expect I will replace these with the same tire in a couple years...
I was looking for tires with good wet traction to replace my worn out OEM GY Wranglers (55k miles) and found these Kumho Crugen HT51's on Tirerack. I'm an "urban pickup truck driver, don't haul much, & not used for work. My biggest issue with the OEM tires was traction, particularly in wet and snow. The Wranglers were horrible, even when new. Nothing like driving down the interstate with no cargo in a rain storm going into a curve when the rear starts breaking loose... Any amount of snow and I would basically need to put it in 4WD. My personal preference is better traction vs. longer tread-wear.
At the time I purchased the Crugen HT51's, they were the overall highest rated in the category just ahead of Michelin on TR and next highest for wet traction. We have a blacktop hill coming out of our driveway and every time it rained, the rear would break traction, even without giving it a lot of gas. These Kumhos grip tight with virtually no breaking of traction. Putting in our boat, the previous tires required I put it in 4WD. With these, no need, it pulls right up the ramp with ease in 2WD.
Have not had them in snow yet, but I have no doubt they will perform far superior to my previous Wranglers, at a cost far lower than Michelin. I have no qualms recommending these to anyone, and expect I will replace these with the same tire in a couple years.
They ride fairly comfortably & quiet, with no rolling over in turns and are decently responsive.
Side note - A buddy just purchased a 2020 4x4 Mercedes Sprinter Van, and it came with these exact tires.
