Highway All-Season tires are for drivers who want a combination of pleasant on-road characteristics, long wear and all-season versatility, including traction in light snow. Highway All-Season tires branded with the M+S symbol are often used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on 2WD and 4WD, light- and medium-duty vans, trucks and pickups, as well as crossover and sport utility vehicles.

O.E. Highway All-Season tires are typically purchased as direct replacements for worn-out pairs/sets of the vehicle's original tires. They can also be used for other vehicle applications in complete sets of four or axle pairs if available in an appropriate size, load range and speed rating to match the existing O.E. tires' performance category and specifications.

Customers Say

Drivers consistently rate the Michelin Primacy XC as a strong highway all-season tire, with treadwear (7-10 scores) praised for durability across typical highway miles. Comfort stands out with smooth ride quality and low noise levels, earning frequent 9-10 ratings. Winter traction shows mixed results-scores dip to 0-5 for ice and deep snow, suggesting limited confidence in severe conditions. Wet traction (7-10) performs reliably in rain, though hydroplaning resistance varies. Dry traction excels (7-10), with stable cornering and responsive steering noted as highlights. Ideal for drivers prioritizing year-round highway comfort and longevity over extreme winter capability.

...I've only driven 320 miles so far, but I am blown away by... great wet traction...

For an OEM these tires surprise me. I've only driven 320 miles so far, but I am blown away by the ride comfort, noise comfort, great wet traction, fantastic dry traction, and their response to steering input.

...Traction in the wet seems good and no issues in the winter here in MN...

Got brand new take off Primacy XCs from a 2019 or 2020 and put them on my 2016 F150 with 64K miles at the time. Did a rotation recently at 94,500 miles (2nd rotation since I got them) and measured tread depths. Wear was surprisingly consistent front and rear. All four tires were within 7.5-8/32 of tread depth remaining. The Primacy's are spec'ed at 10.5/32 stock, so roughly 2.5-3/32 wear in 30K is pretty good in my opinion. Quite impressed with these. Not sure why they get such a bad rep. They are quiet. Obviously wearing very well for me. Traction in the wet seems good and no issues in the winter here in MN. They aren't snow tires afterall but did fine all last winter. I'd surely get another set, if anything would go to a Defender LTX. Will all come done to cost when it comes time to swap them. Probably good for another 30-50K miles with these Primacy XCs.

...They are very quiet and handle very good in dry conditions...

To leave my conclusion first, these tires are more than acceptable if you don't plan on running them in constant snow or ice.
I planned on buying Michelin Defender tires for this set, but got these on sale for $166 per tire. They are very quiet and handle very good in dry conditions. Off-road they also do surprisingly well. I drive a fair amount of rocky mountain trails up here in WY and have had good luck in the dry, wet rock, and light mud. I rotate them every 10k miles and the treadwear looks quite good actually. I would suspect I will get another 20k out of them.
Winters in Wyoming - These are so sketchy in snow, ice, sleet/freezing rain, frost, etc. I have excellent winter tires, but changed them out at the beginning of April and we had some late April snow storms. Wyoming doesn't use salt on the roads, so the ice can get dangerous. Even driving extremely cautious you will break traction everywhere in the snow.
The simplest way to put it is these tires are terrible in every way for all winter driving. 0/10 do not recommend. Now all other categories minus winter a solid 7/10 I like them a lot.

...On dry, warm pavement these tires handle very well. The ride is very smooth and quiet and the tires are very agreeable...

Ford and Michelin continue the great Primacy tradition. Like the Primacy MXMs that came on my spouse's 2016 SHO, the Primacy XCs are abysmal. Drainage grooves in the concrete surface of the Interstate cause the truck to veer erratically from side to side. It was bad enough I thought there was something wrong with the truck; there wasn't, it's an issue with the tires that apparently Ford knows about. These tires are designed for maximum fuel economy, and apparently little else.

On wet roads the tires are just okay, as long as no emergency braking is involved. Deeper puddles result in immediate loss of traction and hydroplaning. In even light snow, it's very difficult for the tire to maintain contact with the road surface; low speed steering and braking are both impaired. In deeper, or packed snow, or on ice, these tires become truly frightening and loose any ability to steer or brake the vehicle.

On a positive note, on dry, warm pavement (without drainage grooves) these tires handle very well. The ride is very smooth and quiet and the tires are very agreeable. Gas mileage on my 2.7L 4x4 F 150 has reached an impressive 28 MPG while driving on the Interstate. Unfortunately, as great a selling point as that may be, it doesn't excuse the overall poor handling characteristics of this tire.

...very comfortable, you dont have all the bumps and roughness you get from a truck. rides like a luxury car.

we really like the way the truck feels. very comfortable, you dont have all the bumps and roughness you get from a truck. rides like a luxury car. thats why we bought this type of truck and tires. only thing is disappointing is that we really wanted white wall tires but after waiting almost 3 months to get them, because of back ordered, i finally had to order them without white wall. i couldnt wait any longer for them since we had two tires splitting open and needed the safety of tire for driving.

...these are super quiet and seem to be wearing excellent...

I'm always leery about OE tires, these are super quiet and seem to be wearing excellent. I have 31K on them an all tires still have 7-8/32nds left on them. I drive almost exclusively highway loaded with 1K lbs or more 50% of the time. They are not the best in snow and ice but if its that bad I just stay home. I will be buying another set in about a year with current rate of wear.

...They have also outlasted every other tire at almost 81k miles...

I got these tires when I bought my truck new. Wasn't a fan of them at first bc I didn't think they would hold up. I drive a mix of highway/city/off-road and I tow a large boat and these tires handled EVERYTHING. They have also outlasted every other tire I've ever owned at almost 81k miles. Would highly recommend for anyone driving an f150 or similar light duty truck.

I have 40,00 miles on them and anticipate a total of 45.000 mile when I finally replace them.

I have had these OEM tires on my F150 super crew with FX4 package from new. I have had the truck from new since March 2018. I have had one Silverado, and 2 Nissan Titans prior to my Ford. The most mileage I have had on previous truck tires was 18,000. I 100% RECOMMEND these tires. I have 40,00 miles on them and anticipate a total of 45.000 mile when I finally replace them.

Just turned 56K on these tires. They have held up better than expected and are reaching end of life, I could probably squeeze another 5k out of them. Honestly for an OEM tire they have beat my expectations, quiet, smooth, and even wearing. They are not the best in snow but I have managed two winters with them in ND. Plan on replacing them with Michelin Defenders before the snow flies again.

...The Michelin Primacy XC performance in slush and ice was unacceptable both in directional stability and braking, but it was an exciting experience. I will put the tires back on for summer use, but would strongly advise against them for winter use in areas that have snow.
