Italians have always identified the color red with passion. And while red sports cars are probably the most identifiable example when it comes to driving passion, there is also Pirelli's P Zero Rosso (Rosso, ro' so, Italian for red). P Zero Rosso Max Performance Summer tires were developed to combine high performance, high speed and a high degree of comfort.

Specific design techniques, raw materials and manufacturing methods have been incorporated to produce Pirelli's most comfortable Max Performance tires. Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P Zero Rosso, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The P Zero Rosso system includes both asymmetric and directional tread designs, each tuned to satisfy the unique performance needs of different types of vehicles and uses. The P Zero Rosso Asimmetrico is the most widely used because it's designed for both front and rear axle positions of front engine front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive cars (and on all cars driven on the track). The P Zero Rosso Direzionale is designed to offer enhanced hydroplaning resistance and is primarily for use on the lighter load carrying front axle positions of mid-engine and rear-engine rear-wheel drive cars (which are then combined with the P Zero Rosso Asimmetrico tires on the rear axle positions).

Both of the P Zero Rosso tread patterns are elegant. The Asimmetrico tread pattern retains the "Zero concept" of earlier P Zero tires by combining a semi-slick center rib that enhances driving precision while accelerating and braking with robust outer shoulder and intermediate tread blocks that are connected by circumferential "multi-ring" ribs to enhance dry grip. The independent blocks of the inner intermediate rib and inside shoulder are separated by wide grooves to help eject water to reduce hydroplaning and enhance wet grip. Considerable use has been made of curved grooves, which complement the circumferential grooves to reduce noise.

P Zero Rosso tires use a silica-enhanced tread compound to provide better grip in low temperatures in the wet and lower rolling resistance in the dry. The tread is supported by PenTec cord (a material developed by Allied Signal for space exploration) which is used to reinforce lightweight steel belts and give more high-speed stability while reducing tire weight and temporary flat spotting when parked overnight.

While most Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires wear a red "P Zero" logo, selected sizes simply feature the "Rosso" logo as part of the embossed black sidewall styling along with the black letters.

Customers Say

Customers praise the Pirelli P Zero Rosso for outstanding dry traction, with scores of 9-10 highlighting its confident grip and cornering stability. Wet traction earns positive feedback overall, though some note reduced hydroplaning resistance in heavy rain. Comfort receives mixed reactions-many appreciate the smooth ride and low noise, but a few report harshness on rough roads. Rapid tread wear is a common concern, with many ratings below 5 suggesting shorter-than-expected lifespan. As a max performance summer tire, it excels in its intended dry and wet conditions, but buyers prioritizing long-term value may find the treadwear disappointing.

...What little driving I have done in wet conditions were good, but I rarely drive in those conditions enough to form an adequite opinion.

I only have the Goodyear EMT tires to compare the PZeros to, but what a difference. Cornering is improved dramatically as well as noise and ride. What little driving I have done in wet conditions were good, but I rarely drive in those conditions enough to form an adequite opinion.

Great tire to allow me to take my porsche to its limits. Good in dry and wet conditions. Great cornering on the back hilly roads of western pennsylvania. Only wish tread life were greater, 10 k and theyre bald!

These tires were OEM on the Audi. They have great grip, but they wore out within 15,000 miles (down to the wear bars). They have tremendous grip and a stiff ride, but that was to be expected. The noise level and ride deteriorated as the tires wore out. I would have bought these again but replacing the tires every 15,000 miles would have gotten very expensive... especially these. I replaced them with a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S (that have a 45,000 mile treadwear warranty).

I would credit some of this amazing longevity to the quality of the car suspension and lots of pothole-free highway driving at well above reasonable speed...

I had a set of PZero Rosso tires (275/40R19 back, 245/35R19 front) coming as part of my BMW 745i sport package. Got the back pair replaced at 5 years at around 75K miles just before hitting the wear indicator. I would credit some of this amazing longevity to the quality of the car suspension and lots of pothole-free highway driving at well above reasonable speed. Getting the front pair replaced today at 86K miles. BTW, this set has never been balanced or rotated (different size, anyway). Smooth ride, even wear, highly recommend these for warm climate driving.

...The grip is better, the tires are more communicative, the lateral grip is astounding and the traction is phenomenal...

I drive a 2001 Porsche Boxster S with the European M030 sport suspension (purchased as parts and installed by Porsche specialist since it was not available as a factory installed option on a USA car). I love the N4 PZero Rosso Asimmetricos far more than the OEM PZero Asimmetricos that came from the factory. The grip is better, the tires are more communicative, the lateral grip is astounding and the traction is phenomenal. Ride comfort is probably an oxymoron with this suspension and tire setup but precision control is what I`m after and ride harshness is of no consequence to me. And I drive the car daily.

Road noise is also a nonissue for me but isn`t bad in my opinion nonetheless. Tire wear is rapid; I am on my fifth set of tires at 37,000 miles and yes, the alignment is checked regularly. I am more than willing to trade longevity for the performance these tires provide and besides, it is alwasy a thrill to install a new set of tires, break them in and then have some serious fun! I intend to keep buying PZero Rosso Asimmetricos for my car for the foreseeable future and will likely install them on subsequent sports cars. I highly recommend these tires.

These tires stick like glue on dry pavement and theyre quiet and comfortable. I would buy them again to get the same level of performance, and it looks like Ill be doing it soon. They look almost 50% worn at 6k miles. But you cant expect long tread life on a tire designed for this level of grip, the rubber is too soft. The trade-off is worth it to me.

...Amazingly comfortable for a no-compromise summer tire...

It was between these and the Nero, and the pricing was better on these. I have no regrets. Fantastic stability, responsiveness and grip. Amazingly comfortable for a no-compromise summer tire. Noise is acceptable but getting louder with miles. Water is not a problem. No noiser than the Pilot HX MXM that came on the car. Ever since the P700Z, I have loved the Pirelli line of ultra-high performance tires. Great motorcycle tires too!

...Ride comfort is the only minor complaint...

I have really enjoyed these tires. Cornering with the AWD/dynamic traction control on the R is precise at aggressive speeds. In my area, there are a number of descending hills with curves and the P Zero Rosso holds all the way through the curve. I almost hit a deer last night and had to swerve quickly then stop suddenly travelling at 50 mph on a 2 lane road(you never just see one deer!). Tires performed fabulously with this and other driving maneuvers. Ride comfort is the only minor complaint. I cant comment on wear but so far not an issue. I would buy again based upon performance to date.

OEM tires for the 2006 C55 AMG: Treadwear is aweful. The 245 rare tires last only 10K miles; the front 235s do slightly better. Noisy on dry road; highway noise is even worse. One thing outstanding, however, is that these tires do stick like glue (actually more like a pencil eraser and wear like it too!) Recommendation: look for alternatives.

...Treadlife seems to be pretty poor...

Got these from someone that got the wrong A/R, but I preffer the shorter sidewall. The tires are great on dry, not as good on wet (comparable to my RE92s that came stock), and HORRIBLE in the SNOW (had a meeting with a wall with 2" of snow on the ground). Treadlife seems to be pretty poor. I would be willing to go with the Neros for summers next time.
