The P Zero Run Flat is a Max Performance Summer self-supporting run-flat tire developed for the drivers of sports cars, sports coupes and high performance luxury sedans looking to combine the know-how derived from 100 years of Pirelli motorsport experience with the convenience of temporary extended mobility in the event of complete air pressure loss. Used as Original Equipment on Mini Cooper S and BMW 7 Series sedans, the P Zero Run Flat lineup includes selected additional replacement tire sizes for other vehicles. Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P Zero Run Flat, like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

P Zero Run Flat tires feature a special silica and carbon black tread compound that proves competent during the first few miles of driving when the tire is still cold, as well as provides consistent performance throughout the tire's life. The tread compound is molded into Pirelli's S-treme asymmetric design in which the location and width of the circumferential and lateral grooves minimize deformation to blend responsive handling, hydroplaning resistance and wet traction with dry road performance, even wear and acoustic comfort. Special nano-composites in the compound beneath the tread protect the casing from deterioration and merge sport handling with ride comfort. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by polyamide cord plies and an integration of nylon and aramid cord that controls tire profile deformation and stabilizes the tread area to enhance high-speed capability and handling.

Sidewalls feature additional reinforcements to provide self-supporting run-flat capabilities of 50 mph for 50 miles (80 km/h for 80 km). Due to these restrictions, it's imperative drivers be notified when a loss in tire pressure occurs and requires the vehicle be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) to detect and signal tire pressure changes.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

Customers Say

Customer feedback data reveals strong dry traction (scores 8-10 dominate) with precise cornering and responsive handling, aligning with its Max Performance Summer design. Wet traction earns positive marks (7-10 common), though some note reduced hydroplaning resistance in heavy rain. Comfort receives mixed feedback: many praise a balanced ride (scores 7-8 frequent), while others report harshness or noise in aggressive driving. Treadwear emerges as a key concern, with rapid wear and disappointing tread life (scores 0-5 frequent) noted by drivers prioritizing longevity. Performance-focused buyers rate it highly for dry/wet grip, but tread durability may disappoint those seeking extended use.

My PZEROs are mounted on ProDrive 17 inch wheels. The WRX feels glued to the road with these tires both in the wet and the dry. Cornering and acceleration from a standing start are outstanding. I expected much more tire noise based on other posted reviews. Except for excessive tramlining over grooved pavement, I have been very pleased. I strongly recommend the PZERO asimmetrico for a summer Max Performance tire and my MZ-01 Bridgestone Blizzaks for winter for any WRX driver who wants outstanding all-season performance.

...I was also pleasantly surprised with the wet handling...

This is the best max performance tire that I have had on my WRX. I am using four PZero Asimmetrico tires on 17 inch ProDrive P7 wheels. The car feels glued to the road and I am certain that my acceleration and cornering speed has increased. I was expecting a ton of road noise from other readers comments but that hasnt materialized. I was also pleasantly surprised with the wet handling. The only downside so far is that there is quite a bit of tramlining on grooved concrete pavement. For those of you driving a 4-wheel drive performance car like the WRX, I highly recommend the PZeros for summer driving and my Bridgestone MZ-01 Blizzaks for the winter as the ideal tire combination to maximize performance, braking, and handling.

Porsche Boxster '97 The Zeros are truly amazing tires. The level of dry grip is very high but the way they communicate with the driver is what sets them apart from all other tires. I have tried SO2's and Conti Sports but they do not come close to the level of performance provided by the Pirelli PZero. These tires have transformed my Boxster on the street and at the track. I will definitely purchase these tires again from Tirerack and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for some "mad" stick in the dry.

...They have great dry traction and their steering response is excellent.

My CRX drives so much better with these tires. I just recently replaced my Falken 502s with my new P-Zeros. I cant stress enough how much better these tires are. I really like the way they look. They have great dry traction and their steering response is excellent. They have worn evenly and have held up to some abuse at the local drag strip. The ride is smooth and quiet for the most part. I havent had much time in the rain on them but what little time I have experienced, they performed quite well. I would definitely buy these tires again and highly recommend them.

...they are much quieter and more comfortable, though there is some noise as highway speed but nothing bothersome whatsoever the only way to avoid most tire noise is to look into grand touring tires. But for a Max Summer performance tire they are quiet and comfortable. Quite soft over bumps and pot holes not punishing at all...

Bought a set of 4 from tirerack special closeout price ($81/tire)! an amazing deal but keep in mind they were a set of 4 Dirrezionale not the actual "system" where 2 (usually front) tires are direzzionale and the rears are asymetrical. I have only had the tires on my car for a few days and I must say the improvement over the Firestone Firehawks wide oval indy 500s i had before is vast. they are much quieter and more comfortable, though there is some noise as highway speed but nothing bothersome whatsoever the only way to avoid most tire noise is to look into "grand touring" tires. But for a Max Summer performance tire they are quiet and comfortable.
Quite soft over bumps and pot holes not punishing at all.
Also the thing that stands out the most about these is the grip.... it is a challenge to get the car to loose grip be it in the wet or dry. These tires are exceptional as far as grip and cornering. Though stability is a bit questionable as it does wobble just a bit under hard cornering ( but that's probably attributed to my 45 wall size tire).
If you can get these on a closeout sale or something similar they will be well worth it. though I don't know if i would pay $200+ per tire, at this price point i would go with Michelin Pilot Sports.

...Overall, very nice balance of comfort and performance... Have since upgraded to 17 RE050s... Havent had a chance to push the WRX hard on its new tires much but initial observation is P-Zero and RE050 are about equal in performance with the P-Zero better in ride comfort.

These tires are a must for Subaru/WRC enthusiasts. Lotsa fun on the dry. Good wet traction as long as youre going straight (due to AWD?). Corner too fast in the wet, however, and expect to pay the price. Overall, very nice balance of comfort and performance. Never heard this tire squeal once in protest! No issues with road noise since I prefer feeling and hearing every feedback from the car. If it ever gets old, I can always drown out the road noise with the stereo. Have since upgraded to 17" RE050s. Havent had a chance to push the WRX hard on its new tires much but initial observation is P-Zero and RE050 are about equal in performance with the P-Zero better in ride comfort.

...Really the only categories where the PZeros can be improved upon I think are comfort and noise.

Was surprised to get 15K miles (albeit mostly highway) on 911 rears, based on previous experience with high performance rubber on Porsche (Michelin MXX on 928 got only 4K). No complaints whatsoever, but am trying Bridgestone S-03 next based on its rating (plus Im a huge F1 fan and like the association with driving the same tire technology as Schumachers wets). Really the only categories where the PZeros can be improved upon I think are comfort and noise.

While some rate treadwear highly (8s-10s), many report rapid wear (scores 0-5). Frequent mentions of premature replacement, worn-down tread, and less mileage than expected. Disappointed in tread life despite summer tire focus on dry/wet traction.

...A word of caution: these tires are for the performance-minded only due to the noticeable noise, bearable (at best) ride comfort, and dismal treadwear.

I wanted to maximize my Legend's handling capabilities, so I spent a great deal of time researching my choice. It came down to Pirelli's PZERO Asimmetrico system or Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Pole Positions. The PZERO's happened to be on sale at the time, so I went with them and was treated to a new dimension in car performance! A word of caution: these tires are for the performance-minded only due to the noticeable noise, bearable (at best) ride comfort, and dismal treadwear.

The tire is "sticky" and is a good tire, but its only good for about 20,000 miles. Mine were nearly bald at 20,000 miles of use. As nice as these tires may be, they are too expensive to replace every 2 years. I have a set of snow tires I use for winter, but have had the opportunity to use these tires in the snow when I have waited too long to change them. These tires are NOT (I repeat - NOT) good in the snow. To use these tires in the snow is suicidal.

Excellent handling tire in dry conditions, however, for the money, I would not purchase again based on alarmingly fast treadwear. Im not an overly aggressive driver, however, I do drive fast. Ive had Michelon Pilots Sports on sports cars that havent worn this fast, particularly when 65% of my miles are highway.
