The Open Country A/T III is Toyo's Off-Road All-Terrain tire developed for drivers of pickup trucks, Jeeps, crossovers and SUVs who want capable off-road traction combined with responsive and predictable on-road handling. The Open Country A/T3 is designed to get you there and get back home, focusing on wet performance and wintertime traction sufficient to earn the tire industry's severe snow service certification and three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Open Country AT3 Tread Pattern and Compound

A specialized, all-season, cut-and-chip resistant tread compound is molded into the Open Country AT3's symmetric tread pattern, utilizing an evenly distributed void area design. The pattern is engineered to enhance off-road traction and increase block rigidity for better dry handling and stability, while still incorporating comfortable and quiet on-road operation. The wet traction-focused compound of the Open Country A/T III, along with 3D Multi-Wave Sipes, increase wet traction and stability. Generous lateral grooves increase hydroplaning resistance while also bolstering traction in snowy conditions, and help the tire earn the 3PMSF symbol.

The Toyo Open Country AT3 offers two distinct sidewall designs built into all sizes, allowing for a subtle customization of the vehicle's look. One side features wraparound shoulder elements with a solid design. The opposite side, and sidewalls with outlined white letters, feature a similar block design but with the elements visually broken up by accent lines splitting the block area.

Toyo Open Country AT3 Internal Construction

The internal construction of the Open Country AT3 utilizes a durable, two-ply polyester casing, providing a robust foundation for twin, high-strength steel belts. A single, nylon reinforcement ply is added for further durability and increased high-speed capability.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R Reviews

Customer ratings show this track-focused tire delivers outstanding dry traction, with enthusiasts praising its race-like grip, consistent lap performance, and predictable handling at the limit. Reviewers highlight improved lap times and confidence in high-speed cornering, often comparing dry performance to dedicated racing slicks. Wet traction raises significant concerns, with users strongly advising against use in rain or below 60 degF due to hydroplaning risks and drastically reduced grip. Treadwear aligns with extreme-performance expectations, typically lasting 2-5 track days before cording, though aggressive driving accelerates wear. Ideal for dedicated track use, it requires proper warm-up and pressure management to maximize its capabilities while emphasizing it's unsuitable for daily driving or mixed conditions.

While requiring proper warm-up, the tire maintains grip through extended sessions with minimal fall-off, solidifying its reputation as a top-tier track performer.

Still my favorite tire for my car for dry track use. Consistently a fast and responsive tire over its full life. It’s a 100 treadwear tire and my car is heavy so only get 3 full track days out of them, but they are great the entire time and that’s the most I’d expect from a fast, sticky tire under those conditions.

...Very high grip level with predictable breakaway and quick recovery. I'm not sure how bad I would have to drive to loose control - never got close to losing control even when pushed

Amazing performance. Best track day tire I’ve experienced in over 20 years of HPDE events. Very high grip level with predictable breakaway and quick recovery. I’m not sure how bad I would have to drive to loose control - never got close to losing control even when pushed

  • 4 positive
  • 44 negative

Customers report unacceptable wet traction, with many scoring 6 or below, noting the 3R becomes dangerously slippery even in light rain. Reviews highlight a tendency to hydroplane, slide unpredictably, and float on wet roads, with multiple warnings to avoid rain entirely. Tread depth and cold temps exacerbate issues, making wet performance a significant safety concern despite its track-focused design.

...Do not use them in the rain. They have zero traction since they come brand new with 5/32 tread.

Awesome track tires for my Camaro ZL1 1LE. I was very disappointed that I paid a premium price for tires almost two years old. My next set of tires will probably be Michelin if I can't get new date codes. These are specifically designed for the car so they do an excellent job on the track. Do not use them in the rain. They have zero traction since they come brand new with 5/32 tread.

...But they done do the greatest when it?s cold or wet outside...

This is an amazing track tire! Terrible when cold but when you give them a little heat, they are extremely sticky. But with all that performance come a few draw backs. It’s a louder tire so you’ll hear more road noise and they done do the greatest when it’s cold or wet outside. This should be purchased with performance driving in mine, wouldn’t consider it if all you wanted to do was daily drive.

101 reviews mention "Treadwear"

  • 46 positive
  • 55 negative

Customers report rapid wear and premature cording, with many scoring 6 or below. Track use often results in cords showing after 2-3 days, requiring early replacement. Some noted less than expected mileage even with rotations, lasting only 100 laps or 3 sessions before tread depth became unsafe. While expected for track tires, wear rates left users disappointed in tread life.

Fantastic tire. But I only got 3 days out of it on track. To be expected I suppose. Just not lasting long enough for HPDE. I switched to a 200 tw tire.
I may revisit this tire if I decide to do time trials.

...Grip is amazing, but the tire is not going to last long - and it's not designed to. I switched to 200 treadwear tires and will stick with that for my HPDE track days.

The tire is fantastic! But I would only recommend if trying to win something - time trial, etc.
