The Quatrac 5 is Vredestein's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, station wagons and crossover vehicles looking for confident performance in the dry and wet, plus premium light snow traction. The Quatrac 5 meets the industry's severe snow service requirements for the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol and, as an all-weather tire, is designed to be a one-tire solution for drivers in environments that experience all four seasons, but don't receive sufficient snowfall to require a dedicated winter tire.
The Quatrac 5 features a high-silica tread compound molded into a multiple condition-focused, asymmetric pattern. The outboard shoulder and circumferential groove are designed for traction, handling and steering precision in dry and wet conditions, with low void ratio and large, stiff tread blocks. The inboard rib and inside shoulder are tuned for confident performance in wet and wintry conditions, with wide, circumferential grooves and lateral notches to evacuate water and slush from the contact patch, along with high-density, winter-focused zigzag sipes that help deliver the traction needed to receive the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
Internal construction of the Quatrac 5 consists of a single-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement aids in handling performance and provides high-speed durability.
Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...Drove last night 50 miles in a mix of heavy rain, wet snow, sleet and ice on I95 and did not slip at all... I do think they are most stable in wet weather...
I bought these tires in 2018 for my Audi Q5 TDI hoping that they would be a great all-weather tire. Did tons of research and settled on a brand I had never heard of before. After 10,000 miles of driving fairly aggressively in all New England weather condition, rain, snow, ice, I have to say I would buy these again. Drove last night 50 miles in a mix of heavy rain, wet snow, sleet and ice on I95 and did not slip at all. While these may not be great for heavy, deep snow (they are not a snow tire), I have felt very safe driving in most weather conditions. I do think they are most stable in wet weather, dry weather cornering misses the mark a bit (off ramps at 50 mph, but that may be the limit of my vehicle) but again I was going for the best across a range on conditions and I have found that to be the case. Just coming on TireRack to buy a set for my daughter's 2015 Jeep and decided to leave a review.

...We live in the Seattle area and definitely got better traction in wet driving conditions...
I do not remember what tires I had prior to getting these "VREDESTEIN QUATRAC 5 XL". But immediately after we changed out the tires, everyone in my family immediately noticed a drastic difference in the comfort and noise reduction. My wife drives the vehicle most of the time and she loved driving on these new shoes. This is an SUV so, I can't really tell much about the grip or cornering or anything that pertains to a performance driving. However, these tires perform amazingly in rain and light snow. We live in the Seattle area and definitely got better traction in wet driving conditions.
One major complaint and the only complaint, these tires have a warranty of 45,000 miles with a thread depth of 10/32 on a brand new tire. I have driven 10,000 so far on these tires and the tire depth is down to 6/32 (which is 50% already).

These are really great tires. The dry traction is awesome. The wet traction is also good. I have been unable to break them free so far. They have not been used in cold or show yet, but I imagine they will be pretty good given the design.

...We just had some serious snow storms and these tires performed flawlessly when it really mattered. I do not like to be intimidated by snow and drive in anything...
This is a 5000 mile update after an entire winter. These are the best all around tires I have ever had. We just had some serious snow storms and these tires performed flawlessly when it really mattered. I do not like to be intimidated by snow and drive in anything. When the snow subsides tires are quiet and handle good. There is no reason to buy any other.

...A fresh set of these does slay a new england winter, however, and the overall performance is excellent... No doubt saved my a$^ on 395 in CT on my commute when the snow flew and plows were slow to respond.
I put these on my 02 Odyssey because I am a very spirited driver, and I was looking for something that would fulfill my needs of being a great performer in all road conditions and speeds, while also providing excellent winter performance, as I was making a long commute to work over highway and rural streets. I gave these tires --------, and they delivered excellently.
I have never driven on an all season that provided such a sporty feel, comfortable ride, and incredible snow performance. For an all season tire, this has to be as good as it gets. That said, the enhanced winter performance DOES come at a price. The tread compound is a bit softer than other all seasons. Don't expect to get much more than 30-35k out of these tires. Granted I wasn't taking it easy on these for most of their life, if you get my drift. It is almost exactly one year since I purchased my first set and there is simply no way I can make it through winter on this set with 30k+. To be totally honest, when I had ~15-20k worth of wear on them, it would have been enough to warrant replacing them before a winter.
A fresh set of these does slay a new england winter, however, and the overall performance is excellent. I loved these tires plain and simple. No doubt saved my a$^ on 395 in CT on my commute when the snow flew and plows were slow to respond. 9/10 overall score

Very good set of tires. Currently live in Germany and theyve seen a lot of snow/ice. Traction in deep snow is amazing. Lightly covered roads and ice arent a problem either. The tires do have some road noise and you can feel uneven road on them, but it isnt bad. They also handle speeds of 100+ MPH very well and this has not caused any abnormal tread wear. I have not had any indications of hydroplaning with these tires either.

I drive mountains to the highway and find that these tires deliver very strong Dry Traction and Curve Response. Much better than most I've used, except for the Michelin Pilot series, less Wet traction response is fair. Noise is low, but in reading the other readers responses, those that rate the tires as High Noise, drive cars like Subis, and in my experience is much less insolated car in comparison to the Volvo 960 or any Volvo. Overall, this tire is very impressive, but no winter driving as of yet to report. (I might) report on this later. Also. A good value tire!

...There is some delay on initial turn in. I have changed my cornering to compensate. It just took awhile to learn the tires response to inputs...
I agree with one reviewer who states that these are not performance tires. There is some delay on initial turn in. I have changed my cornering to compensate. It just took awhile to "learn" the tires response to inputs. With that being said, I would still buy these tires again. Traction (wet and dry) is superior. Stopping is sure and straight (wet and dry). These tires do not transmit sharp jolts from what passes as "rural roads" in Pennsylvania. They are surprisingly quiet given the aggressive looking tread.

...Now the Encore is surefooted in all situations, brakes and corners like a sports car...
These are hands down one of the best tires I've ever purchased. They transformed my 2017 Buick Encore into a driving pleasure and they handle the snow and ice very well. I removed the factory Continental tires and replaced them with these after several white knuckled trips in the rain on the Interstate, and difficulty controlling the car on ice and snow even though it is AWD, the factory Continental tires only had 4500 miles on them. Now the Encore is surefooted in all situations, brakes and corners like a sports car. It's like it's an entirely different vehicle now. I recommend these tires and will definitely purchase them again.

...The difference with the Vredesteins is like night & day. There's a small bit of tradeoff in steering response, but the ride is so much more comfortable...
I bought my 2-owner '04 BMW 325Ci convertible a few months ago from a caring owner (engineer) who treated it right. Unfortunately, at some point he had equipped the car with a mixed set of Kumhos (front) and made-in-Turkey Goodyears (rear). I say unfortunate, because those tires made my little Bimmer ride hard as a buckboard on rough pavement (which is just about everywhere these days). I thought the harsh ride might be caused by the sport package option (bigger 17" wheels, firmer suspension), but I wouldn't know for sure until taking a chance on a new set of Vredestein Quatrac 5's. I'm so glad I did.
Shipping from Tire Rack to a highly rated local installer took a quick 2 days; after the install this morning, I couldn't be happier. The difference with the Vredesteins is like night & day. There's a small bit of tradeoff in steering response, but the ride is so much more comfortable. Driving about 60 miles today in pouring rain with occasional standing water, the Vredesteins tracked straight & true with zero hydroplaning. The Quatrac 5's are a super value in a quality European-designed & manufactured tire - easily a win-win choice.

...Tire wear will be the final determining factor for purchasing again. They appear to have roughly 7-8/32" of tread left. These tires have been rotated f to r every 7.5k per Subaru recommendations. I don't think that they'll go to 40k miles before I replace them, but time will tell...
This is our first set of Vredesteins. We live in IA and have had two full sets of Blizzaks on two different FWD vehicles through the years. These Quatrac 5s have been a very acceptable year round tire on our 2012 Outback at 44 months and 20k miles. I am surprised to read about how many people think these are very noisy tires. It may be that the ambient noise level of the rear cabin area of the Outback is such that the tire noise just isn't as intrusive to us. Dry condition performance is quite good, as is wet pavement. I have never felt the vehicle hydroplane with these tires. Snow pack performance in reviews is what sealed the deal for this purchase. I have been very satisfied with their traction in both light and heavy snow conditions. Ice performance and firmly packed snow surface performance is more a function of ABS capability than anything else. In my opinion, the Quatrac 5s probably do as well as any other "three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol" all season tire on ice. Tire wear will be the final determining factor for purchasing again. They appear to have roughly 7-8/32" of tread left. These tires have been rotated f to r every 7.5k per Subaru recommendations. I don't think that they'll go to 40k miles before I replace them, but time will tell. I don't try to squeeze out every last mile on tires. These tires have a fairly soft tread compound, so ultimate wear characteristics will, understandably, be on the low side. That said, the overall performance of the tires at 20k miles would certainly have them at least being compared to another tire option when it comes time to replace. Would I buy them again? Yes, somewhere between probably and definitely.

Really nice tires. I bought these for the winter traction and not having to switch to winter tires. Treadware is ok, not great, but ok. I'm happy with that, because I would gladly trade off treadware for better winter traction. Winter traction is quite good, wet traction is good. These tires are adequately stiff and responsive for an SUV.

Posting this review around 42k miles of mostly city and high way driving in the PNW, down to about 4/32 of tread life left... Currently expecting to reach 45k miles before I need to really think about replacing them...
Posting this review around 42k miles of mostly city and high way driving in the PNW, down to about 4/32 of tread life left. Wet performance and light snow performance is fantastic for the first 25k miles. Around 20k I started to not feel as confident in light snow but still very confident in wet performance. From new at speed there was a sort of higher pitch noise on highways, but as the tread life went down this was replaced with the general rush of highway noise I've become use to in the PNW area. Currently expecting to reach 45k miles before I need to really think about replacing them. Too bad these are no longer sold, will have to check out the Pro's next.
