Pirelli P Zero Run Flat (PZ4) tires are Max Performance Summer tires derived from Pirelli's Formula 1 experience and developed for use as Original Equipment on the BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and MINI Clubman, with select replacement tire sizes also included in the lineup. P Zero Run Flat (PZ4) tires are designed for the drivers of sports car, sport coupes and high-performance luxury sedans and provide the convenience of temporary extended mobility in the event of complete air pressure loss. Pirelli's warranty does not cover tires that develop compound cracking due to use in ambient temperatures below 45° Fahrenheit (7° Celsius), so the P Zero Run Flat (PZ4), like all summer tires, is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

The P Zero Run Flat (PZ4) utilizes a special high silica content summer-only rubber compound that is molded into an asymmetric tread design focused on comfort, low rolling resistance, low noise and lateral hydroplaning resistance. Wide, circumferential grooves and lateral notches are utilized for efficient water evacuation at speed or while braking to improve resistance to longitudinal hydroplaning.

The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced by a hybrid nylon and Kevlar ZeroDegree cap ply. Based on the desired performance characteristics of the Original Equipment application, the tire casing will be two-ply polyester or one- or two-ply rayon, with either symmetric or asymmetric construction. With many combinations of material and orientation available during development, tire designers have the ability to fine-tune the tire's internal construction to further match the personality of the automobile for which it is engineered.

The sidewalls of the P Zero Run Flat (PZ4) feature additional reinforcement to provide self-supporting run-flat capabilities of up to 50 mph for up to 50 miles (80 km/h for 80 km). Due to these restrictions, it is imperative drivers be notified when a loss in tire pressure occurs and requires the vehicle be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) to detect and signal tire pressure changes.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

Yokohama ADVAN A052 Reviews

Reviews indicate the Yokohama ADVAN A052 excels in dry traction, with users highlighting exceptional grip, quick warm-up, and autocross/track dominance, often resulting in faster lap times. Wet performance is praised for confident handling in damp conditions, though hydroplaning occurs in standing water. Treadwear receives cautious notes-many report rapid wear under heavy track use, emphasizing alignment and pressure management to extend lifespan. While some achieve multiple heat cycles, the trade-off for extreme grip means shorter longevity, aligning with expectations for a tire prioritizing peak performance over durability.

...Unless you hydroplane, the A052 is probably the best wet weather tire. Compare that to the stock Cup2's, which are a disaster in the wet - no confidence, no grip, and generally terrifying to drive on...

Years after release, and still the A052 is consistently the fastest tire in the Super 200TW classes. There's other that come close and perform perhaps marginally better in the optimal conditions for that specific set, but across the average of all days, conditions, and cars, the A052 remains the king.

The other thing that is unintuitive about these tires is how good they are in the wet. Unless you hydroplane, the A052 is probably the best wet weather tire. Compare that to the stock Cup2's, which are a disaster in the wet - no confidence, no grip, and generally terrifying to drive on.

Lastly, the A052s are surprisingly quiet and comfortable on the street. I've stepped down to 19" wheels, but since these have pretty relaxed side-walls, there isn't any additional NVH like you commonly get from track oriented tires. The only key thing you'll need to keep in mind is A052s do need significant camber, compared to an RE71, i'd add an extra 0.3-0.5 degrees of camber with all other factors equal.

Great tire. Surprisingly good traction in the rain - just need to be careful with standing water. One of the go to autocross tires. My only issue so far is Tire Rack shipping tires with a 2 year old date code. This type of tire is very age sensitive and receiving 2 year old stock on a competition tire is disappointing. Tire Rack say the tires are stored in a climate controlled warehouse. I have no idea this is true. I do know 2 years is a long time for such a tire - people are usually throwing them out after 2 years.

Customers overwhelmingly praise the Yokohama ADVAN A052 for exceptional dry traction, with many scoring 9s and 10s. Reviewers highlight "insane grip," "predictable cornering," and rapid warm-up, making it a top choice for autocross and track days. While some note accelerated wear, most view it as a worthy trade-off for outstanding performance in extreme summer use.

  • 57 positive
  • 91 negative

Reviews highlight rapid treadwear, with many users disappointed in short lifespan. Multiple reports of tires wearing down to wear bars or cords after minimal track use, requiring early replacement. Some note the 200TW rating seems inaccurate, citing excessive wear and premature replacement needs, especially without aggressive camber settings.

...Tread wear isn't great either. only had 2 HPDE days and FR corded.

A052 is just not for me. Maybe for a lighter smaller car. The tire heats up pretty quickly and the absolute traction is great in peak conditions. But that peak only lasts 3-4 push laps on track, then it's super slippery and over heats too quickly. For a 20-min HPDE session, the last 10-min really struggles for traction. It's more like a cheaper CUP2. Tread wear isn't great either. only had 2 HPDE days and FR corded.
