The Scorpion Verde (Italian for green) All Season Run Flat is Pirelli's eco-friendly Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season run-flat tire developed for the drivers of crossovers, sport utility vehicles and prestigious pickups. Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat tires feature Pirelli Self-Supporting Run Flat Technology that enhances safety and convenience by providing temporary extended mobility in the event a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Pirelli Self-Supporting Run Flat Technology allows tires to literally "run flat" for up to 50 miles at 50 mph (80 km at 80 km/h) unless otherwise specified by the vehicle manufacturer for Original Equipment tires. The Ecoimpact* icons on the Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat sidewalls highlight the tire's environmentally-friendly contribution to increasing vehicle fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions compared to Pirelli's earlier CUV/SUV tire lines. The Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat is designed to combine dry and wet road handling, comfort and year-round capabilities, including all-season traction in light snow.

The Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat molds a silica tread compound into an asymmetric tread design that features an optimized rubber-to-void ratio and uniform contact patch to blend dry road traction and performance with uniform wear. Four wide circumferential grooves displace water to resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction while longitudinal siping provides lateral stability on loose surfaces and high-density lateral siping enhances wet and wintertime traction. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts to provide strength and durability on top of a polyester cord body. Pirelli's extended mobility solution is made possible by their MIRS computer-controlled robotized manufacturing system, a production process that assures consistency in the application of the additional sidewall reinforcements that provide the self-supporting run-flat capability.

*Specific sizes utilizing eco-focusing manufacturing methods are identified with Pirelli's Ecoimpact designation on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Though they cannot be labeled as run-flat tires, tires branded with MOExtended or MOE on their sidewalls offer run-flat-like characteristics by delivering limited temporary extended mobility after a puncture results in complete loss of air pressure. Because MOExtended or MOE tires do not have the same speed and distance endurance of conventional run-flat tires, they should not be substituted in any situation where a conventional run-flat tire is required. To confirm what your vehicle needs, check our Original Equipment tire listing for your year, make and model or see your vehicle owner's manual.

Customers Say

Feedback consistently shows the Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Run Flat delivers strong comfort with smooth ride quality and low noise, scoring 8-10 in most ratings. Winter traction earns praise for reliable snow performance, while wet and dry traction receive positive marks for confident handling and grip. However, treadwear raises concerns, with many ratings in the 0-5 range noting rapid wear or disappointing tread life. Customers highlight its all-season versatility for crossover/SUV use, with dry traction (8-10 scores) and responsive steering standing out. While comfort and traction excel, inconsistent tread durability tempers long-term satisfaction for some drivers.

So far I am very happy with these tires. They are a big improvement from the OEM Dunlops. Real strength of the tire is its wet weather traction and control. Just after installing these tires we took a 1200 mile round trip and found them to be reassuring in heavy rain and deep standing water. The tire has a firmer but still comfortable ride when compared to the original tires. I have also found the tire to have a quicker steering response which took a bit of getting used too. The tire is noiser but not to the point of being intrusive - my wife who drives the car 95% of the time has not complained. I did not rate the tire for wear or snow traction as I just purchased the tires this summer. This tire is definately worth considering for a crossover / SUV that is not driven off road.

...I have to say these little Italian jobs have impressed me - They grip the road like my wifes cat running up the living room curtains! I am now taking corners at upwards of 50mph that would make the OEMs chatter at 40-45 (there is also a noticeable improvement in wet traction - a requirement here north of Seattle)...

When it came time to replace my worn out Goodyear OEM Wranglers on my Liberty, I wanted to go with something that would handle better and run quieter. After doing my research, I reluctantly settled on these Scorpion Verde's. I say reluctantly because I'm very much a 'Buy American and Look for the Union label' shopper, (and we've all seen the horror stories of Chinese tires). I have to say these little Italian jobs have impressed me - They grip the road like my wifes cat running up the living room curtains! I am now taking corners at upwards of 50mph that would make the OEMs chatter at 40-45 (there is also a noticeable improvement in wet traction - a requirement here north of Seattle). Add the lower cabin noise levels (I can hear the Sirius radio at 11 compared to 13 with the OEMs) and the .6 mpg fuel economy improvement despite my 'spirited' (or as my wife would say, 'aggressive') driving style, and I am very happy with this purchase.

They appear to be wearing very well, and have been flat-towed over 6000 miles behind my Motorhome during several trips across the country and around the Seattle area. I can't speak to the winter traction because I swap over to a set of 17" Bridgestone Blizzaks from Thanksgiving to April Fools Day. When you order them, make sure you specify the Italian versions, not the Chinese factory ones! I'm hoping when it comes time to replace them, Pirelli will have these from one of their American (or Canadian) plants.

...WOW, it is now February 10, 2015 and I will not install the Blizzaks this winter, because the Verdes are totally awesome in the snow and ice. I have snow skied at a local resort for over 50 years, with an average snowfall of 250+ inches of snow every winter. I installed the Pirelli Verdes September 2014 on a 2012 Acura MDX AWD and decided not to put my Blizzaks on until I tested the Pirelli's in the snow and ice. WOW, it is now February 10, 2015 and I will not install the Blizzaks this winter, because the Verdes are totally awesome in the snow and ice. I have been to the mountain 15 times this season to ski, and these tires are very nice. They track and grip in deep snow, stop and go from a traffic signal with compact snow and ice with no slippage. Going uphill or downhill on snow or ice, they track through the corners with a very confident feeling of what the vehicle will do as you enter and exit a slick corner. This is very important on snow and ice to get a feel what the car will do to minimize your reaction time if necessary. They are amazingly and quiet and smooth on the dry interstate. Solid and stable over rough roads, with firmness and stickiness in the corners. If your looking for a one tire quiver for all seasons, this is a good one. I did not rate the tread wear because of the low mileage.

...For an all season tire, their winter use in a Midwest winter is fine. This is my second Cayenne Hybrid, & my third set of these specific Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires. I replaced the original set on this car at 50,000 miles with this latest set, only because it was required to re-certify (I bought the car after leasing it) the car by Porsche, who said 2 of the 4 tires had lost enough tread that they wouldn't certify the car. The installers actually stopped their work, before the installation, called me to the installation garage, and asked me why I was replacing the tires, since they were still fine with plenty of tread! For an all season tire, their winter use in a Midwest winter is fine. I've had only one instance of completely losing traction - on black ice on an interstate at 65MPH - and that instance only lasted for a (very long) three seconds - I noted at the time three other cars that hit the same patch and were off the shoulder of the highway. In dry weather, the tires are terrific - with all the electronic traction control, it is simply not possible to make them lose grip; and they're relatively quiet. In a torrential downpour driving through 4+ inches of standing water in the far left lane at highway speed, I felt a little wiggle, but wouldn't any tire do that? Overall, highly recommended, unless you're in the Rockies and it's winter.

I just got back from New Years in Taos, NM. It snowed the whole time (10-12in). My trusty 2008 Lexus rx350 (fwd) was recently shod with these Pirellis, and my fingers were crossed as front wheel drive w/o snow tires is a risky endeavor in the Rocky Mountain region. They were great! This was my only concern ( performance in snow), and I had no problems at all. The performance of these tires in other conditions has been well documented by others.

Very pleased with this tire so far. Major upgrade from the Hankook Ventus tires that came with vehicle in terms of handling and traction, both wet and dry. Vehicle is much more responsive, has much better cornering grip, and much better starting traction and stopping grip. Even my wife, who is a very conservative driver, noticed the difference. I would definitely recommend this tire to any other XC60 customer, and I am sure it would perform well on any other small to midsize SUV.

...First, they are quiet and provide a nice ride in the Touareg. It's hard to compare, as these were stock, so I haven't yet tried another set of shoes on to see the difference, but I really don't have any complaints in terms of comfort/noise with these...

These are OEM tires on my Touareg and I've put serious miles on them in a mix of city/highway/light offroading over the past year. Overall I'd say they are good at certain things and not so good at others. I'm in the market for a different set of tires even though these have plenty of tread left after 30k miles. First, they are quiet and provide a nice ride in the Touareg. It's hard to compare, as these were stock, so I haven't yet tried another set of shoes on to see the difference, but I really don't have any complaints in terms of comfort/noise with these. The Touareg is on the sporty side of the crossover market (basically the same as a Porsche Cayenne), and I'm used to driving sports cars. These tires do a fine job in the corners, though they could stand to be a bit grippier on dry pavement. In the wet, they do fairly well, but they are not as good at handling standing water (puddles) as others with more aggressive treads, so hydroplaning resistance could be better. Offroad these are not going to get you very far into the woods. While fine for gravel roads and dry dirt roads, they would be useless in mud and I wouldn't trust them near any real rocks that might cut a sidewall. Know your limits here. Regarding winter traction, we have had our first snow/ice event in over a year here in Arkansas with about 8" of snow to test these out in. This was what I was waiting on to determine my next set of tires. These are true all-season tires and, so, are not really intended for more than just the slightest winter weather. In >4" of snow, these struggle to get bite and they tend to pack up with snow pretty easily. The AWD system has to work overtime to make up the difference. As such, I wouldn't rate them much better than just average, since most cars today come with all season tires and these seemed no better or worse. On ice, they are fairly poor, though again not much worse than most other all season tires I've had. I will be putting a different style of tire on soon.

I purchased this tire after speaking with a customer service representative when I asked for a viable option to the factory Michelin Pilot tires. I have been nothing short of delighted with these tires. They have a slightly harder tread compound than the Pilots did they maintain the cornering stability of the Michelins. Overall, I feel that they driver better than the Michelin Pilots and offer a better value due to better treadware and come in at a lower price point. I would enthusiastically recommend that you consider these tires as an excellent performing, outstanding value replacement tire for heavier SUV's that are used on-road.

Purchased from Tire Rack (less than $100 ea)and I've been very pleased with these tires. They were advertised as MPG saving tires and "green", so both of those traits caught my eye. I read other reviews about great tread wear and I've experienced the same great results. I kept looking at my front tires trying to decide when to rotate to back, but wear was so minimal, I just did it after 15k miles. You would think the rubber would be hard but they are not. Have been great in rain/floods, and look good. They are so much better than OEM's (Bridgestones). They have exceeded my expectations. I know my vehicle has a reputation of road noise, but these tires have helped greatly in that area. I have nothing negative to say about them. First set of Pirelli's, but not my last.
