The Open Country A/T III is Toyo's Off-Road All-Terrain tire developed for drivers of pickup trucks, Jeeps, crossovers and SUVs who want capable off-road traction combined with responsive and predictable on-road handling. The Open Country A/T3 is designed to get you there and get back home, focusing on wet performance and wintertime traction sufficient to earn the tire industry's severe snow service certification and three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

Open Country AT3 Tread Pattern and Compound

A specialized, all-season, cut-and-chip resistant tread compound is molded into the Open Country AT3's symmetric tread pattern, utilizing an evenly distributed void area design. The pattern is engineered to enhance off-road traction and increase block rigidity for better dry handling and stability, while still incorporating comfortable and quiet on-road operation. The wet traction-focused compound of the Open Country A/T III, along with 3D Multi-Wave Sipes, increase wet traction and stability. Generous lateral grooves increase hydroplaning resistance while also bolstering traction in snowy conditions, and help the tire earn the 3PMSF symbol.

The Toyo Open Country AT3 offers two distinct sidewall designs built into all sizes, allowing for a subtle customization of the vehicle's look. One side features wraparound shoulder elements with a solid design. The opposite side, and sidewalls with outlined white letters, feature a similar block design but with the elements visually broken up by accent lines splitting the block area.

Toyo Open Country AT3 Internal Construction

The internal construction of the Open Country AT3 utilizes a durable, two-ply polyester casing, providing a robust foundation for twin, high-strength steel belts. A single, nylon reinforcement ply is added for further durability and increased high-speed capability.

Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

...these ones have fantastic wet traction...

Great tires, I might be a little jaded because the set that came on the truck were an off brand cheap set but these ones have fantastic wet traction and are much much quieter than I was expecting. I will absolutely buy another set in the future

...my SUV performed very well under rainy weather (virtually no hydroplaning)...

Bought these around Labor Day 2020, because I needed a bad-weather upgrade on the previous tires I had. Saw these Toyos and I loved the aggressive look of the tire and the 3-peak rating these tires had. The following winter had some heavy snow days, and the Open Country AT III sliced through the snow effortlessly! I was super impressed how my Highlander went through the snowy roads with virtually no spinning of the wheels. I felt super-confident driving under these conditions, and my SUV performed very well under rainy weather (virtually no hydroplaning). There is road noise to some extent, considering the design of sipes and tread, which I expected. It is noticeable when you drive on the highway, but I travel with the music on, so I do not notice it then. I got my tires 10 mm wider than my car''s usual size standard, because I find it helps with improved handling and cornering, and these Toyos did not disappoint. These tires grip the dry pavement excellently and have just as good stopping response. The ride is smooth and handles bumps firmly, but steadily. As of this date, I will need new ones only because I drive rather ''''spiritedly'''' and I wore out these Toyos much sooner than the 65,000-mile warranty. Overall, if you are looking for an all-round, all-rough, all-responsive, all-weather, all-terrain tire that does the job and inspires confidence in your ride''s ability to handle practically anything, then you cannot go wrong with Toyo Open Country AT IIIs.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. Good Luck!

...I noticed in snow when turning into may begin to slide but straighten back up and it grabs immediately...

Off-road ability is great. I've had no problems with loose gravel, sand, and mud. I noticed in snow when turning into may begin to slide but straighten back up and it grabs immediately. For me I do anywhere between 500-2000 miles a month. From the starting 12.8 32nds depth having done about 7000+ miles im at about 10 32nds remaining. However, one of my tires are now starting to cause vibration. Looking back I think it was a bad tire because the amount of balance weight added to that tire was rather high compared to the other 3. Hoping I'm just a rare occurrence but will likely have to buy another pair to stop the vibration that one is causing.

...Water traction is fantastic, I have no idea when people write it's not good...

This tire is simply incredible! I would buy again. It’s very quiet, almost difficult to even notice the sound unless I’m looking for it . I am driving a Standard load version, took about 1-2.5 oz to balance each tire! Butter smooth in the roads. It truly feels like a highway tire but with the advantages of the all terrain. I couldn’t be happier. Toyo made a great tire with this one. Sidewall looks cool and mild aggressive patterns. I super dig the style and tread. Water traction is fantastic, I have no idea when people write it’s not good. I have tons of sipping and drive careful and never had it slip. A+++ tire! It’s the best fit for my 2019 tundra I’ve ever found.

...In dry conditions, I really love these tires. No humming noise. They feel like they grip well to the dry pavement. Turns are flawless. No resistance...

This was the first time purchasing this brand of tire. I live in the Sierra Nevada mountains where we can get lots of snow. In the past I’ve had other brands that did excellent but I decided to give this one a try. Big mistake and I am regretting my choice. I should have stuck to what I know does well in snow. In dry conditions, I really love these tires. No humming noise. They feel like they grip well to the dry pavement. Turns are flawless. No resistance. In the rain they also seem to do great although I haven’t been through much rain with them. In snow, they are AWFUL. With others brand in the past, I could roll right over 6-8 inches of snow. No slipping at all. I just recently had a snow storm in my area so naturally my driveway was full of snow. I had to move my suv about 100 feet to get to the main road that was plowed. My tires spun constantly. Keep in mind I had shoveled the area so I wouldn’t have much to go over. But still, slipping on every try. I never experienced that with my past choices. I was slipping all over the place almost hitting my husband’s parked car. Now I’m not naive, I know that one will experience some slipping once in a while in deep snow. But these have no grip in snow. I watched as my husband tried to move my SUV and he was in about 4 inches of snow and the tires just spun. While in 4WD. Then we tried 4LOW. Still nothing. I knew at that point I had made a bad decision. What ----- is I’m making payments on these crappy tires until next Christmas. I’ll never purchase these again. I need to ensure my my family’s safety in snow and this makes me feel like my family’s safety is now at risk if I drive in the snow.

...I have had the Jeep up to 85 mph on the interstate and the tires ride very smooth and soft. Very comfortable ride...

Overall satisfied with the tire, it performs very well off-road as well as on the freeway. I have a 1994 Jeep Wrangler with a 2.5 engine so I don't expect to be driving too fast on these tires. Mainly I use this for City driving and off-road fun. I have had the Jeep up to 85 mph on the interstate and the tires ride very smooth and soft. Very comfortable ride. I picked these tires over the BF Goodrich k02s and do not regret it. A very versatile all-terrain tire for any Jeep lover.

I purchased these originally for my Jeep (different size). They had 20000 miles without ANY signs of wear. I purchased these 35x1220s for my truck. We haul a 41ft 13klb fifth wheel. These tires are fantastic. I have the Load F rated tires and was initially concerned with road noise. No worriee. They too show zero signs of wear. Love these tires!!!
