The ExtremeContact Sport 02 is Continental’s next-generation Max Performance Summer tire, developed for drivers of sports cars, performance coupes, sedans, and muscle cars seeking a satisfying balance of traction and handling, quiet comfort, and tread life. Like all summer tires, the ExtremeContact Sport 02 is not intended to be driven, stored, or serviced in near- or below-freezing temperatures, through snow, or on ice.

ExtremeContact Sport 02 callouts

Utilizing a specialized summer-only compound molded into a ribbed asymmetric design, the ExtremeContact Sport 02 features Continental's SportPlus Technology, which focuses on precise handling, wet traction, and enhanced wear for well-rounded maximum performance. The outside shoulder features wide tread blocks for lateral grip and high-speed handling, and the continuous center rib provides constant rubber-to-road contact for solid on-center feel. A wide, optimized footprint evenly distributes pressure across the face of the tire for improved tread life. Continental employs its patented +Silane tread compound technology to provide sure-footed handling in damp conditions, and deep, circumferential grooves offer efficient pathways for water evacuation through the contact patch for hydroplane resistance.

The internal construction of the ExtremeContact Sport 02 consists of a two-ply polyester casing supporting two steel belts. A polyamide reinforcement ply adds high-speed stability and performance.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

...Longer life, and superior snow/ice/wet/cornering than oem winter tires...

Enjoyed the tire is snow. Holds really well. Longer life, and superior snow/ice/ wet/cornering than oem winter tires. A little noise compared to oem summer and range decreases by 5-10%, at the cost of superior grip/performance

I've driven in several different snow storms with heavy snow, wet, snow, dry snow and ice and my experience is the same driving and whether it goes from an experience of fear to one of control and safety. I can pass jeeps and Subaru and pick up trucks with four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive like it's nothing in the worst of conditions.

I’ve been on the fence about getting snow tires for many years living in a snowy climate with 2 wheel drive cars. This purchase has blown my mind in so many ways. I’ve driven in several different snow storms with heavy snow, wet, snow, dry snow and ice and my experience is the same driving and whether it goes from an experience of fear to one of control and safety. The only downside is that I feel impatient with other slow drivers now who are creeping along at 25 miles an hour because they’re held back by their tires and their fear of sliding off the road. I can pass jeeps and Subaru and pick up trucks with four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive like it’s nothing in the worst of conditions.

...The traction in snow is excellent, and having proper snow tires is a must for upstate NY.

I came from Continental ProContact tires, and these Michelins are my first real snow tires. They’ve been performing great so far. The traction in snow is excellent, and having proper snow tires is a must for upstate NY.

This is my first rear wheeled drive car in a very long tome. I go skiing in VT often but wanted some peace of mind in snowy conditions. These tires got grip! The other day I watched a front wheel drive car "front fish tale" up a hill. That car was in front of me and I was able to drive completely normal with no loss of traction. I was not sure about getting a set of winter tire and now I couldn't be happier!

...Because I downsize my rims/tires for the winter, the ride quality is actually better due to the taller sidewalls / more cushion...

This is my second time buying Michelin X-Ice tires; both my cars have these tires at the moment b/c it's winter here in WI. Because I downsize my rims/tires for the winter, the ride quality is actually better due to the taller sidewalls / more cushion. I love the tires. Notably, the X-Ice on my older car were installed back in Jan. 2021. I'm still driving on those tires and there is plenty of tread for another season. Truly impressed.
