The Pilot Sport 4S is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire developed in cooperation with some of the most demanding vehicle manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche to utilize key technologies engineered during competition in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was designed for serious drivers looking to maximize the performance potential of their sports cars, performance sedans and powerful luxury vehicles. The Pilot Sport 4S excels in warm dry and wet conditions, so like all Max Performance Summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Premium Touch LogoSelect sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin's Premium Touch sidewall treatment. This velvet-effect checkered sidewall is created using cutting-edge laser technology and is designed to enhance the vehicle's visual presence. These sizes are identified on the "Specs" page and in the search results.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4SThe asymmetric tread pattern of the Pilot Sport 4S features side-by-side, 24 Hours of Le Mans-derived compounds. The low-void outer shoulder utilizes a new dry-focused hybrid tread rubber for improved dry handling and braking over the previous generation tire, while the center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a silica-infused wet compound designed to increase wet braking performance. The computer-modeled Variable Contact Patch 3.0 optimizes pressure distribution across the contact patch through turns, reducing hot spots and improving tire life during aggressive use.

Internal construction of the Pilot Sport 4S features twin steel belts reinforced by a spirally wound hybrid reinforcement. This hybrid Aramid and nylon belt offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed handling, wear and durability. Specifically tuning the application of the cord filament provides Michelin engineers the ability to balance tension and strength, and a single-ply, polyester cord casing balances trade-offs between ride quality and responsive handling.

Limited sizes of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results.

Select original equipment sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S utilize the Michelin Connected Tire System in conjunction with Michelin Acoustic Technology and can be identified by the specific Acoustic and Bluetooth logos on the tire's sidewall. These tires contain the sound-absorbing foam as well as a sensor designed to communicate specific data about the tire to the vehicle's built-in systems.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

*Specific sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

...Very good dry grip, good road feel...

Great sales experience, Parker made the process very smooth and easy. The tires were a good buy since Conti had introduced the 02 version so this review is for the previous version. Very good dry grip, good road feel. However, the ride is a bit rough and they are noisier than the Michelins of the same category.

This is my 1st set of contact sport, previously i've owned contact sport dw which were about $35.00 cheaper but the same quality tire,i've also tried more expensive tires but i'm impressed with this continenal, this is a soft tire that gives you an excellent ride for the price.
Quiet & smooth ride for half of the life of the tire, but great handling while cornering @ high speeds.

...The ride comfort is great and the turn in is sharp...

I was between these and the new pilot sports. After trying these based off the recommendation of a guy who has SCCA solo titles I just cannot justify the price difference between the tires. They just are planted at all times and I am not even through the break in period of the tires yet. The ride comfort is great and the turn in is sharp. I look forward to running my RS and these tires at a SCCA event. If you are like me and between these and the PS4s save yourself the $200 and give these a try. I do not think you will be dissapointed.

I ran 2 full autocross seasons on these tires ( won my class both years), 14 events and about 100 runs total, and there is still 20% tread left...

I put these on my FIAT 124 spider to replace the factory Bridgestone's. The grip was awesome right away! Much more grip and very easy to find the limit, go past it, and bring it back without incident. I ran 2 full autocross seasons on these tires (won my class both years), 14 events and about 100 runs total, and there is still about 20% tread left. They will not compete with the 200TW Advans or Potenzas, but will hold their own against any other high performance tire that is not "Autocross specific".

My daily driving is spirited, not crazy, but I have not made any attempt to nurse these tires to make them last. They have taken us from Wisconsin to Florida to North Carolina and many places in between. Whenever someone in the FIAT community is asking about tires I always suggest the ECS. These tires are a great balance of performance, balance and tread wear. You will not regret driving these tires!

...Wear seems to be great so far. My power driven rear is wearing slightly faster but it is negligible overall...

The ExtremeContact Sports replaced ExtremeContact DWS when I realized I would be moving to a warmer climate soon and didn't have a need for any snow traction. I have been very pleased with them over the 9 months they have been mounted. Combined with Koni Sport Yellows that I leave on the softest setting the ride quality is very sporty but comfortable. There is definitely more road noise but I kind of like it an the extra feel and responsiveness and confidence in cornering ability is well worth it. I don't live around areas where there are any twisties so I am very excited to get them on some proper roads to see what they can really do later this year. The little bit of spirited driving on the few and far between twisty roads has been a blast though.

Wear seems to be great so far. My power driven rear is wearing slightly faster but it is negligible overall. The performance for the price is really excellent and I will not hesitate looking at another set when the time comes to replace them.
