The Pilot Sport 4S is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire developed in cooperation with some of the most demanding vehicle manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche to utilize key technologies engineered during competition in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was designed for serious drivers looking to maximize the performance potential of their sports cars, performance sedans and powerful luxury vehicles. The Pilot Sport 4S excels in warm dry and wet conditions, so like all Max Performance Summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Premium Touch LogoSelect sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin's Premium Touch sidewall treatment. This velvet-effect checkered sidewall is created using cutting-edge laser technology and is designed to enhance the vehicle's visual presence. These sizes are identified on the "Specs" page and in the search results.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4SThe asymmetric tread pattern of the Pilot Sport 4S features side-by-side, 24 Hours of Le Mans-derived compounds. The low-void outer shoulder utilizes a new dry-focused hybrid tread rubber for improved dry handling and braking over the previous generation tire, while the center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a silica-infused wet compound designed to increase wet braking performance. The computer-modeled Variable Contact Patch 3.0 optimizes pressure distribution across the contact patch through turns, reducing hot spots and improving tire life during aggressive use.

Internal construction of the Pilot Sport 4S features twin steel belts reinforced by a spirally wound hybrid reinforcement. This hybrid Aramid and nylon belt offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed handling, wear and durability. Specifically tuning the application of the cord filament provides Michelin engineers the ability to balance tension and strength, and a single-ply, polyester cord casing balances trade-offs between ride quality and responsive handling.

Limited sizes of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results.

Select original equipment sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S utilize the Michelin Connected Tire System in conjunction with Michelin Acoustic Technology and can be identified by the specific Acoustic and Bluetooth logos on the tire's sidewall. These tires contain the sound-absorbing foam as well as a sensor designed to communicate specific data about the tire to the vehicle's built-in systems.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

*Specific sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Recently installed a set of the Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT on my Cherokee. The dry traction is impressive, providing a stable and confident feel on highways and city streets, while its wet traction is equally reliable. The tire grips well in wet conditions, which gives me the confidence for safe handling on rain-soaked roads without slipping or hydroplaning. One of the features that initially stood out is its ride comfort; the tire absorbs road imperfections smoothly, delivering a quieter, more relaxed driving experience compared to the other all-terrain tires I've driven on. The Cooper is also a rated for Severe Snow with the 3 peak mountain snow flake symbol, and I look forward to see how well they do in the winter time. The tire looks great on a Jeep as well.

...Wet traction is good, hydroplaning is satisfactory...

Overall, I like these tires. Everyday driving they're comfortable and quiet. I've used them in Moab on moderate/ slightly difficult 4x4 trails (it's a cherokee trailhawk, not a rubicon) and had no issues. Also have used them pretty extensively on Colorado 4x4 trails and forest service roads in slight mud and packed to overnight fresh fluff snow with no problems. I have not had an opportunity to really test them in nasty conditions yet. I do have slight concern in really icy conditions on the road and I did almost slip right through an intersection on black ice, but normal crappy snowstorm conditions on I70 through the CO mountains I've had no problems. They seems to have worn more than I've expected, as with Coopers I've had before on a previous vehicle, I really don't think I'm going to get the full mileage out of them as I did the stock Firestone Destination A/T. I've rotated them twice and keep them up to pressure during normal day-to- day. I do air them down when offroading, but not drastically. Overall they have been great tires though. Wet traction is good, hydroplaning is satisfactory. I don't think my cherokee trailhawk will see another set of tires under my ownership, but I wouldn't argue with another set of these tires.

Tire performs well and is used 90% on road with regular off road weekend trips. Excellent grip in all conditions on road, also performs exactly as needed off road and in adverse weather in the NW.

Tire performs well and is used 90% on road with regular off road weekend trips. Excellent grip in all conditions on road, also performs exactly as needed off road and in adverse weather in the NW.

Only problem is that after 20k miles I'm down to 9/32nds putting me on pace to be all used up (4/32nd) at 45k miles compared to the 65k rating.
That will only give me 2 winters of use which is pretty sad. I will probably switch to Falken Wildpeak AT4W even though I like the quietness and wet weather grip of the Cooper R&T.

...These got me through the Buffalo 2024 blizzard that pushed the playoff game. Easily 2" or more of snow on road for over an hour, not once did I slide (of course, with reasonable driving)...

Fantastic set of tires. Went to these from the Cooper AT3 XLTs that had some interesting wear. Very pleased with the performance all around. Never pushed these to their limit, but great in dry, wet, and snow. These got me through and out of the Buffalo 2024 blizzard that pushed the playoff game. Easily 2” or more of snow on road for over an hour, not once did I slide (of course, with reasonable driving). Still look brand new with almost new tread depth after 11k miles and 2 rotations.

...Good dry and wet pavement handling, good when pushing them thru corners and switchbacks on mountain roads out West and handled the mountain snow packed mountain roads with ease...

I have had this same tire on my Ram 1500, liked them, saw they were made in a size for my Subaru when I needed tires, and bought them. I have experienced good all around performance and OK mileage on my truck, and am on my second set there. Got about 35K from the first set on my truck, a good bit short of the mileage promised in their advertisements, but for the price, still considered them a decent value. I have 17K on these tires for my Subaru and am pleased with performance and tread wear. Good dry and wet pavement handling, good when pushing them thru corners and switchbacks on mountain roads out West and handled the mountain snow packed mountain roads with ease. I like the tires on both my truck and Subaru, get good all around performances and am not unhappy with tread wear. Will probably purchase again.

...The Cooper Discoverer is great in heavy rain and provides excellent dry traction... Tires feel very secure and more connected to the road than my old Hankook's. They are responsive to steering inputs and feel very smooth on asphalt and concrete highways.

Bought my truck new with Hankook Dynapro Extreme AT2 tires. Changed to the Cooper Discoverer Road/Trail AT to get better tread wear and more traction in off road and inclement weather conditions. The Cooper Discoverer is great in heavy rain and provides excellent dry traction.

The tire ride is a little less refined than prior tires. However, the difference is very slight. Very low noise at highway speed and a slight whistling sound at low speeds ( -30 mph). Tires feel very secure and more connected to the road than my old Hankook's. They are responsive to steering inputs and feel very smooth on asphalt and concrete highways. They absorb the expansion joints between concrete sections on interstate highways well. Very smooth and quiet ride.

The Discoverer has excellent wet traction and resist hydroplaning even at highway speeds ( 65 - 75 mph ) in heavy rain.

...I had over 200,000 miles on sets of Hankook Dynapro AT2 and was consistenly disappointed...

No wonder this is the #1 rated tire in the catagory. Extremely satisfied with its performance and improvement over the Hankook Dynapro AT2 that comes stock on F150. I had over 200,00 miles on sets of Hankook Dynapro AT2 and was consistenly disappointed. The Cooper has been awseome for the light snow we've been getting in Michigan. I'd have needed 4x4 with the Hankook AT but the Cooper had amazing grip in 4x2. I've towed my cargo trailer filled with sleds flawlessly. I've driven on tight and steep off-road trails covered in deep snow. The sand road leading to my cabin used to need 4x4 but the Cooper AT easily manages. If my MPGs dropped, it hasn't been noticable yet...the slightly larger diameter probably offsets the extra 16 lbs of rotating weight. My wife knows nothing about automotive and instanly said the truck felt so much safer and in control. I'd buy these again tomorrow.

I have also taken them on a few 100+ mile road trips and the ride is just as good as a highway tire, very comfortable and smooth.

I installed the Cooper Discoverer Road and Trail AT on my Jeep just before the snow started to fall. Very glad I did. These tires did exceptionally well in the winter elements. I had no trouble navigating thru 3-4 inches of snow confidently and in control. Additionally my area has experience very heavy rains this Spring and I have had no hydroplaning at all and have yet to brake the tires loose in any condition. The grip is very impressive. I have also taken them on a few 100+ mile road trips and the ride is just as good as a highway tire, very comfortable and smooth. Very happy with them.
