Does this tire fit your vehicle?

Tires are designed specifically for different vehicles and wheel sizes. Tell us about your vehicle or the specific size you want so we can help find the right tires for you.

The Pilot Sport 4S is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire developed in cooperation with some of the most demanding vehicle manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche to utilize key technologies engineered during competition in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was designed for serious drivers looking to maximize the performance potential of their sports cars, performance sedans and powerful luxury vehicles. The Pilot Sport 4S excels in warm dry and wet conditions, so like all Max Performance Summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Premium Touch LogoSelect sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin's Premium Touch sidewall treatment. This velvet-effect checkered sidewall is created using cutting-edge laser technology and is designed to enhance the vehicle's visual presence. These sizes are identified on the "Specs" page and in the search results.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4SThe asymmetric tread pattern of the Pilot Sport 4S features side-by-side, 24 Hours of Le Mans-derived compounds. The low-void outer shoulder utilizes a new dry-focused hybrid tread rubber for improved dry handling and braking over the previous generation tire, while the center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a silica-infused wet compound designed to increase wet braking performance. The computer-modeled Variable Contact Patch 3.0 optimizes pressure distribution across the contact patch through turns, reducing hot spots and improving tire life during aggressive use.

Internal construction of the Pilot Sport 4S features twin steel belts reinforced by a spirally wound hybrid reinforcement. This hybrid Aramid and nylon belt offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed handling, wear and durability. Specifically tuning the application of the cord filament provides Michelin engineers the ability to balance tension and strength, and a single-ply, polyester cord casing balances trade-offs between ride quality and responsive handling.

Limited sizes of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results.

Select original equipment sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S utilize the Michelin Connected Tire System in conjunction with Michelin Acoustic Technology and can be identified by the specific Acoustic and Bluetooth logos on the tire's sidewall. These tires contain the sound-absorbing foam as well as a sensor designed to communicate specific data about the tire to the vehicle's built-in systems.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

*Specific sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Excellent wet traction...

Excellent tires. Very good in deep snow. Very comfortable tires. No noise. Excellent wet traction. I am very pleased with these tires and would purchase them again and again. I highly recommend these tires. Since purchasing these tires we have had two major snow storms. The traction has been amazing. Keep in mind I drive a Mercedes GLE 350 with all wheel drive and snow traction.

...These tires shocked me because I have yet to slide when the ground is wet and when I take turns faster then I should they hold up...

My father purchased these tires after I went through a snow store with low profile tires that were stretched on my after market rims. I drive rather fast and have gotten all the tires I've had to spin through third gear. With my stretched tires I would hydroplane and get them to chirp when ever I wanted to take off fast. These tires shocked me because I have yet to slide when the ground is wet and when I take turns faster then I should they hold up. I haven't gone through snow yet with them but I don't doubt that they'll be able to preform as well as they have been. I'll add to this review when I get some snow to play in.

...So far these tires have been excellent in all winter conditions. I did not stud them, but without studs they have been great. Driven in a handful of storms so far and lots of cold slush/rain...

Living in the Pacific Northwest we are presented with many different conditions. Lots of snow and slush around the freezing level that turns into packed snow/ice. Head toward the mountains and the temps drop and the snow is fluffy and dry. So far these tires have been excellent in all winter conditions. I did not stud them, but without studs they have been great. Driven in a handful of storms so far and lots of cold slush/rain. Would highly recommend. Being from Michigan I have driven on many snow tires and the technology continues to improve. These are better than snow tires I had even 5 years ago.
Dry handing is a little vague at highway speeds but it's a non issue for the winter performance you get. I switch to other tires for summer months so it's not a concern. Highly recommended. And as always Tire Rack does an amazing job, bought and shipped to my door in only 3 total days.

...On ice they are very secure with little slippage and in light snow (4-5 inches), they held like the roads were dry...

Although I haven't been driving nearly as much this year (due to COVID), my first few experiences with these tires in inclement weather has been impressive. They have more road feel than my standard Michelin all seasons on dry pavement, handle just fine in light and heavy rain and don't wander like the Michelins do. On ice they are very secure with little slippage and in light snow (4-5 inches), they held like the roads were dry. I purchased these as they were less expensive than other brands and looked like they had a good aggressive tread design and since I am no longer commuting daily, I didn't want to spend a fortune on tires that wouldn't get a lot of mileage put on them. Other than a bit of road noise on dry pavement, so far I am impressed with them.
If/when I have a chance to use them in deeper snow and slush conditions, I'll write an update, but I would definitely recommend these tires as an option to more expensive winter tires.

We live in SE Alaska where snow and ice traction is important. These tires have amazing grip. Our little Corolla is able to go just about anywhere without fear of sliding or getting stuck. These tires have met or exceeded all my expectations. There were not a lot of reviews of these tires as they are fairly new on the market, but Cooper really did a fantastic job of designing the Evolution Winter. I expect these tires will become very popular. Tire Rack did a fantastic job of shipping these tires to our remote location. Purchase and shipping was a very easy process. The mounting and balancing was very good. They arrived ready to install. Thank you.

...Dry traction is a little questionable, but they are not high performance tires and I'm driving a WRX...

Needed some winter tires for my new WRX since it only comes with Summer tires. I only drive my car on the weekend so it didn't make sense to spend a lot on a set of Blizzaks. These tires were new so there wasn't really any reviews on them yet. I took a gamble and purchased these with a set of steel wheels from tire rack. Tires came mounted and balanced and they are perfect. No wobbles or issues installing them. Took me a while to test them in the snow but they perform great. Straight line traction is superb, and cornering is good. Dry traction is a little questionable, but they are not high performance tires and I'm driving a WRX. For the money, these tires are great, and Tire Rack was a pleasure to deal with.

...As soon as I drove out of the tire shop I noticed a very significant difference in the feel of my steering. It feels very light and responsive, like a totally different car... Outstanding tire in looks, sound, dry performance, acceleration, handling and braking so far...

These tires are awesome. I replaced my Cooper WeatherMasters of 6 years/42,000 miles with these Evolutions. As soon as I drove out of the tire shop I noticed a very significant difference in the feel of my steering. It feels very light and responsive, like a totally different car. I could not believe it. They are quiet as a mouse as well which is unbelievable being that the WeatherMasters roared loudly until the tread wore down. This is a great-looking tire too. It looks rugged yet classy. I keep staring at them taking pics because the lettering and tread is really sharp. Acceleration feels better (quick and smooth) and I am confident my gas mileage will be better with these. I have not tested them in rain or snow yet. They take road imperfections fine just not luxury-like so sometimes you will feel it depending on how bad the road is. Whatever Cooper did to the tread pattern makes a big difference in feel, handling, acceleration, sound, and braking. The only thing they should have added is a lip that mates up to the outer most part of the rim. (WeatherMaster had this). There is a little gap there that no one would notice except for me but I hope tiny debris doesn't collect in there between the tire and rim. Outstanding tire in looks, sound, dry performance, acceleration, handling and braking so far and for the price point I would highly recommend.

...Coming from Hankook H727s, I can say dry and wet pavement driving is at least as good... Sidewall stiffness gives a noticeable reduction in body roll in corners, but this difference might be due to upsizing from OE...

I bought these tires because my wife's family lives in Michigan's U.P. Around here, I can get by with all-season tires all year, but this is very untrue further north. I have these on their own set of 17x7 winter rims and I don't plan on studding. Coming from Hankook H727s, I can say dry and wet pavement driving is at least as good. Road noise is noticeably lower than the Hankooks. Sidewall stiffness gives a noticeable reduction in body roll in corners, but this difference might be due to upsizing from OE. Braking distance seems comparable to all-season tires if temperatures are in the 30s. I haven't driven them in warmer weather and don't plan to, but they are very grippy around 30 degrees Fahrenheit and I expect great performance in inclement U.P. weather. I should be getting into about 6" of snow very soon and plan to update my ratings and review once I see how these do in deeper snow.

...I only rated them fair for Ride/comfort/noise, because, quite frankly that's not why one buys a studded snow tire. Of course they don't ride as comfortably or as quietly as an all season tire...

EXCELLENT snow tires - and YES i did have them STUDDED because there is NO substitute on icy roads. Read that again. There's no "non-studdable" snow tire that is better on ice than a studded snow tire.
These snow tires have absolutely exceeded my expectations. I only rated them "fair" for Ride/comfort/noise, because, quite frankly that's not why one buys a studded snow tire. Of course they don't ride as comfortably or as quietly as an all season tire. But that's why we have a separate set of snows, mounted on a separate set of rims.

...They worked like a charm, making it up with no spinning or sliding at all and handling snow on the flat parts of the driveway really well...

I've had these on about a month now (studded), and they've been fine with light snow and sometimes mildly icy conditions that we've had some days. But today was the first time they really got tested with 5 or so inches of wet snow on our long, steep gravel driveway that often gets really icy. They worked like a charm, making it up with no spinning or sliding at all and handling snow on the flat parts of the driveway really well. In the past with all-season tires I'd either have to gun it and pray to the ---s of traction, or would often stall or even start to slide backwards halfway up the hill with only half as much snow.

Tread wear has been better than anticipated which usually means it's a harder compound so then cold weather traction suffers, which has not been the case. These tires are exceeding expectations for their durability without sacrificing cold weather performance. Currently back on the vehicle for their second winter and they should absolutely get us thru a 3rd winter.
