The Pilot Sport 4S is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire developed in cooperation with some of the most demanding vehicle manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche to utilize key technologies engineered during competition in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was designed for serious drivers looking to maximize the performance potential of their sports cars, performance sedans and powerful luxury vehicles. The Pilot Sport 4S excels in warm dry and wet conditions, so like all Max Performance Summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Premium Touch LogoSelect sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin's Premium Touch sidewall treatment. This velvet-effect checkered sidewall is created using cutting-edge laser technology and is designed to enhance the vehicle's visual presence. These sizes are identified on the "Specs" page and in the search results.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4SThe asymmetric tread pattern of the Pilot Sport 4S features side-by-side, 24 Hours of Le Mans-derived compounds. The low-void outer shoulder utilizes a new dry-focused hybrid tread rubber for improved dry handling and braking over the previous generation tire, while the center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a silica-infused wet compound designed to increase wet braking performance. The computer-modeled Variable Contact Patch 3.0 optimizes pressure distribution across the contact patch through turns, reducing hot spots and improving tire life during aggressive use.

Internal construction of the Pilot Sport 4S features twin steel belts reinforced by a spirally wound hybrid reinforcement. This hybrid Aramid and nylon belt offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed handling, wear and durability. Specifically tuning the application of the cord filament provides Michelin engineers the ability to balance tension and strength, and a single-ply, polyester cord casing balances trade-offs between ride quality and responsive handling.

Limited sizes of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results.

Select original equipment sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S utilize the Michelin Connected Tire System in conjunction with Michelin Acoustic Technology and can be identified by the specific Acoustic and Bluetooth logos on the tire's sidewall. These tires contain the sound-absorbing foam as well as a sensor designed to communicate specific data about the tire to the vehicle's built-in systems.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

*Specific sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Firestone Winterforce 2 Reviews

Customers think the Firestone Winterforce 2 delivers outstanding winter performance, with near-perfect scores (9-10) for snow and ice traction, plus reliable deep-snow handling. Wet traction (7-9) and dry grip (7-10) are consistently strong for winter conditions, though slightly less refined than specialized non-winter tires. Ride comfort earns praise (7-10) for smoothness, though a few note occasional road noise. Treadwear (5-10) shows mixed results, with some drivers reporting shorter lifespan in harsh conditions. As a dedicated winter tire, it excels in its core purpose-providing confidence in snow and ice-while balancing respectable wet/dry performance and comfort for seasonal use.

...The only complaint I have at all is that these are hilariously easy to spin in warm, wet conditions, but they're not really meant for that...

After one year, I've gotten to put these tires to the test through about everything. The road noise is noticeable but very quiet for a snow tire. The only complaint I have at all is that these are hilariously easy to spin in warm, wet conditions, but they're not really meant for that. I very often fly down gravel roads as fast as reasonably possible. These tires, regardless whether there was snow on top of the gravel and without respect to how much snow, absolutely exceeded my expectations. I've gotten stuck working rallies in rural Michigan with Goodyears, but I've never had a moment of doubt with these. I've also ran them year round as I primarily ride a motorcycle in the summer. These tires haven't worn or cracked any noticable amount after ~5k summer miles.

Couldn't get up my inclined stone driveway if there was more than an inch of snow on the ground with the tires that came on my car. With these tires it has no issues with 6in on the driveway. Made all the difference.

...Dry traction is great, the tires are also very quiet and produce no noise from what I can (can't) hear...

I've only had these tires about 400 miles, but in that short amount of time, I've been thoroughly impressed.

I live in Buffalo, NY, and these tires have dealt with an ice storm, and two lake effect snow storms that produced well over 12" of snow during each storm. This is still early in the winter, so there's plenty more to come over the next few months.

Ice traction is incredible. I had to drive nearly 3 miles on an inch of ice. My truck is RWD, and the tires helped me get down that stretch of road with ZERO issues. I passed 4 vehicles that were in the ditch as a result of the ice (should've had some Winterforces on their cars).

Deep snow traction is great. 6-12" of heavy packed snow was no match for the tires. Heavy rain on the highway resulted in no hydroplaning whatsoever.

Grip is phenomenal while turning on icy, snowy, and rainy roads. Dry traction is great, the tires are also very quiet and produce no noise from what I can (can't) hear. I have a few friends who have these tires on their cars, one is a Subaru Legacy, the other a Chevy SUV. Both of those friends are also huge fans of these tires, one of them even has a studded set.

Bought because of the deep tread pattern. Even being a low profile tire, there is very little snow tire noise and the ride is still comfortable. They performed as designed in 4" of snow with no straight or cornering issues. The tires dug in and had no problem traveling at regular speeds.
