The Pilot Sport 4S is Michelin's Max Performance Summer tire developed in cooperation with some of the most demanding vehicle manufacturers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche to utilize key technologies engineered during competition in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was designed for serious drivers looking to maximize the performance potential of their sports cars, performance sedans and powerful luxury vehicles. The Pilot Sport 4S excels in warm dry and wet conditions, so like all Max Performance Summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored nor driven in near- and below-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Premium Touch LogoSelect sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin's Premium Touch sidewall treatment. This velvet-effect checkered sidewall is created using cutting-edge laser technology and is designed to enhance the vehicle's visual presence. These sizes are identified on the "Specs" page and in the search results.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4SThe asymmetric tread pattern of the Pilot Sport 4S features side-by-side, 24 Hours of Le Mans-derived compounds. The low-void outer shoulder utilizes a new dry-focused hybrid tread rubber for improved dry handling and braking over the previous generation tire, while the center ribs and inboard shoulder feature a silica-infused wet compound designed to increase wet braking performance. The computer-modeled Variable Contact Patch 3.0 optimizes pressure distribution across the contact patch through turns, reducing hot spots and improving tire life during aggressive use.

Internal construction of the Pilot Sport 4S features twin steel belts reinforced by a spirally wound hybrid reinforcement. This hybrid Aramid and nylon belt offers a lightweight, high-strength reinforcement above the steel belts to enhance high-speed handling, wear and durability. Specifically tuning the application of the cord filament provides Michelin engineers the ability to balance tension and strength, and a single-ply, polyester cord casing balances trade-offs between ride quality and responsive handling.

Limited sizes of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology, which involves the manufacturer adhering a layer of sound-absorbing foam to the inner liner of the tire to reduce cabin noise in the vehicle. These sizes are identified on the Specs page and in the search results.

Select original equipment sizes of the Pilot Sport 4S utilize the Michelin Connected Tire System in conjunction with Michelin Acoustic Technology and can be identified by the specific Acoustic and Bluetooth logos on the tire's sidewall. These tires contain the sound-absorbing foam as well as a sensor designed to communicate specific data about the tire to the vehicle's built-in systems.

Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle.

Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.

*Specific sizes utilizing Michelin Total Performance eco-focused manufacturing methods are identified as such on the Sizes tab, as well as on the tire's Specs tab.

Customers Say

Drivers consistently rate the Pirelli Scorpion Zero All Season as excellent in dry traction (9-10 scores dominate), with precise steering and confident cornering. Wet traction earns strong marks (8-10 range), supported by reliable hydroplaning resistance. Winter performance shows mixed results: many praise snow capability (7-10), but ice traction occasionally dips to concerning lows (0-3 scores noted). Comfort stands out with near-perfect ratings for smooth, quiet rides. While some report impressive tread life (9-10), rapid wear concerns (0-3 scores) suggest variability-ideal for drivers prioritizing performance but worth monitoring for high-mileage use. Overall, it delivers as a capable street/sport truck all-season tire.

OE on my ST Explorer. They are very good in the wet, low noise and comfortable. I have 24,000 miles on them and could probably easily get another 24,000. I'd buy them again but they are pricey, even compared with Michelin.

...Traction in wet is very good; I drive through water at 70mph and didn't hydroplane...

So my Explorer ST is modified and with that I drive spirited. I haven't been in the snow yet so this is a review for summer time. Tires haven't had one issue. They're not loud like so many reviews state. Traction in wet is very good; I drive through water at 70mph and didn't hydroplane. Dry traction is even better than wet. I've never been a Pirelli fan but these tires are solid; I give credit where credit is due.

...Handles great in the dry and surprisingly did a nice job in NH snow, cold and ice...

Excellent all round all season tire. Handles great in the dry and surprisingly did a nice job in NH snow, cold and ice. Tire is designed for electric cars that have the extra weight from the battery pack. Volvo went with staggered tires and indicated there was no real need for winter tires. I was skeptical but so far Volvo called it right..

...They were decent for the normal wet and dry handling... So the plus side is dry traction and grip...

These were the OE tires on my Q7 in the 285/40R21 size. They were decent for the normal wet and dry handling except for hydroplaning resistance in heavy rain. Early on they were quiet but have developed a little warbling noise now after 25K miles. The snow traction was pretty poor for an all-season design from the beginning, so I downgraded them there. My main issue is the treadwear, as I would project them to be worn out at 30K miles, since they're like 85% worn now. I would expect to get at least 40K miles from an OE All-Season tire, so I think that's somewhat unacceptable. So the plus side is dry traction and grip, minus side is snow traction and treadwear.

The Audi SQ5 came standard with summer performance tires with a poor tread life rating. Great dry traction but it's not dry all year and some trips to the mountains with snow called for something different. I read that the tires were noisy but that was not my experience. So far they've been great tires with a decent ride. Of course they don't corner like the summer performance tires on hot dry pavement but I'd say they are 85% as good. The wet traction and being M+S rated make up for it. I'd recommend them if your looking for an all-season.

...These UHP Yrated tires hug the road well and make the daily bumps and imperfections in the road seem very small. The tires hug the road very well threw the curves and hills on the back roads...

I bought these specific tires to replace the UHP Summer tires that came on the vehicle when I purchased it because I live in Tennessee which has all four seasons. These UHP Yrated tires hug the road well and make the daily bumps and imperfections in the road seem very small. The tires hug the road very well threw the curves and hills on the back roads. The tires track very well in the rain and down pours. I have yet to have the tires hydroplane or break traction, even in the heaviest downpour. So far I've put 9,000 miles on these tires and have not been disappointed. The tires have noise deduction liners that need to seat in the tires as you drive. It took several interstate drives to get the tires to smooth out as the noise reduction liners seated. I would definitely recommend these UHP all season tires to anyone looking for a good performing all season tires, just be patient and let the liners seat.

...They are super luxurious, soft, and quiet. The comfort of the ride is top notch...

These are the original tires on my Audi. I don't drive the SUV that hard so these tires are now at 39,000K miles and almost ready for replacement. They are super luxurious, soft, and quiet. The comfort of the ride is top notch. They are not super sporty so it depends on what you are looking for. Debating between these again or some better performing Michelin's next. It's a premium SUV so I don't want a hard noisy ride which may happen with higher performance tires.

Original tires on brand new vehicle I purchased and have put over 52,000 miles on tires. Still going but tread life getting limited. Excellent handling, traction and longevity. I drive mostly highway with a few city miles, noise as tread wears down but not uncomfortable or excessively loud. Drive smart and avoid road debris and potholes is the key to success.
